I believe the CF-29 requires a PATA(IDE) harddrive. EDIT: Yup, confirmed by specs-

But the size itself shouldn't be a problem. My CF-28 can handle a 250gb internal and a 2tb external usb harddrive.

While my friend here seems to be fresh out of words. He does make a good point. The harddrive he mentioned is an incredibly good one, and if you require storage, you might want to opt for that one instead.

I have one Wd3200beve in my cf-28,the bios recognize it as 137 Gb,but OSes can use its 320Gb without problems. Maybe it's a little noiser than the old Fujitsu 40Gb (4200 rpm?) I'm not sure.

I had a 250GB version of the same drive Driller suggested in my old CF-29. BIOS recognized it fine and it worked great for the 2+ years I owned it. I see no reason the 320GB should not work, I just bought the 250 because it was on sale and I could not afford the extra at the time.

Yes a pata drive will work fine , not the sata drive you linked to as noted by others, double check that the whole size is recognized in the bios , and read my response below for a perfomance tip

It's recommended to partition the drive so that the first partition is smaller than the 137gb bios limitation as data corruption can occur

It will increase performance as well as the o/s stays on the fastest part of the hard drive

The recovery media has that option to have more than one partition ,so its easy to do

This 320GB drive will work no problem... I've personally tried it and it works fine in the 29/18 & 73.

    Thanks

320B IDE is max and will cost about $90 for drive

Recert Western Digital 320GB IDE WD3200BEVE 2.5" Drive | eBay

Unless you want to modify caddy to fit in IDE / SATA adapter at which point you can double the size for less that $90 even with the cost of adapter. But must modify caddy, and is not easy for an average user.

    Peace

Dang, I can defiantly mod stuff, but then I might have to sacrifice my HD heater, and face it, that's a COOL option I want to keep. I guess Im gona have to learn more, I don't know near as much about computers as I do engines

If I do get that big of a drive, Then I can in fact partition it as mentioned, and run windows xp in one half, and ubuntu in the other, that way when needed I can run my programs that will only run in windows. but still put it to the man.

If you are talking about the SATA mod the heater is fine, it's the foam around the HDD...inside of caddy. Before you do it there is a good thread on this with pictures on how to do it. I did it...then I UNDID IT :D. Do a search on " sata mod " and start reading....very soon you will be as NUTS as us :eek2:

I have had a PATA 320GB Western Digital Scorpio in mine for close to two years. There is no problem with this drive.

    Agree with Azrial.
Have used several WD Scorpio drives.
The WD1600BEVE , 160gb like the Samsung is running fine in my older HP.
I don't know if these are still being produced , the manufacturing date is 27 nov 2007.
