If you are in a desperate situation for space, the speed and performance issue is not that big of deal. You can get a Hitachi or Samsung 320Gb 7200 for well under $100.00 bucks right now.

Its an IDE interface ,so 250 gb is the max(If you can find one), and the 160GB samsung ide is the most cost effective
You are lucky that your Toughbooks are all sata interface as there is lots of options open in sata

320GB PATA drives will work. There's only one that I've found, the WD Scorpion Blue, model# WD3200BEVE...lists for anywhere from $65 to upwards of $120. I bought two, as PATA drives are a dying breed. :(

    Yay forced obsolescence

When you'r done upgrating will you be looking for a new home for the old drives? I'm looking for not to abused 7200rpm ATA drives. 60, 80, 100GB.

eBay, Amazon, newegg.com, any online computer component retailer, really.

Will it work? Should. I don't have a CF-18 so I don't know for sure, maybe somebody else can chime in....

PATA= Parallel ATA. ATA renamed to distinguish the connection standard from SATA (Serial ATA)

    ebay is your friend.
thats where i got my stick from.
plus dont fall into the trap of searching for "toughbook" ram. its all the same stuff. just make sure you search for the right specs for your machine.
