    Hi All,

I finally got myself an SSD to install on my CF-30. I noticed that it's 7mm whereas I assume that Toughbook
will fit the usuall 9.5mm drives. Unfortunately the drive came without an spacer, so I was wondering if It will
fit into the caddy as is or if I have to somehow find a spacer.

    Thanks,

The SSDs are a little thinner than the regular drive... No adapter is needed. It all fits into the shock mounted drive caddy anyway.

    Put her in!

A piece of cardboard will take up the slack. Put it only on 1 side so the copper heat sink will still make good contact with the SSD metal case.

Ken... I would think the cardboard would be an insulater that would stop the heat from dissipating from the drive itself. (If needed) Just my .02 cents and worth that much!

I run ssd's in almost all my units. In the CF-30's I don't use or worry about spacers as the difference in height is small and the cushioning squeezes the drives on the sides. They don't move. The only ssd I have 'shimmed up' is the 1/8" 128GB ssd I have in my CF-18MK1 running W7Ult. With that unit I used some of the dampening cushions from an old hdd caddy. I trimmed them down and put one under each corner of the drive and put that in the caddy.
