The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Hi, I have been trying to make a search tool for this site. This is what I have done so far.

I tried to search from this post via the Goggle Search Site command: TEST site:forum.notebookreview.com

    and got this:

    http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=TEST+site%3Aforum.notebookreview.com&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=d53639546d3e9460

Sorry you must click this to see the correct URL!

I then went to the upper right hand search in Windows Explorer 8 and selected Find More Providers.

Go to the bottom right on that page and you will find: Create your own Search Provider.

Paste the URL I have provided above into the URL space and name it NBR or whatever you like. You should then be able to search this forum via the right hand search block via Google.

Let me know how it works for you or any input on making this better. I tried to narrow the result to the Toughbook Forum with mixed results.

Good job! Will it work with Google Chrome? I dumped IE8... Too buggy for me.

I am not sure, I have never used G-Chrome, but I am working on seeing how it would work with FireFox right now, as that is my default Internet Client. I mean is no big deal, but it does a pretty good job of searching and in combination with the sites tool should find most topics.

Go HERE for instructions on adding to Firefox.

Sorry, so far I can not get it to work worth a flip in Firefox. :(

Good job Bill, I am trying to make it work with Opera, so far no luck but that is probably due to my inexperience with adjusting web browsers. Rep to you.
