So to be honest, I'm a lurker. I only really log on to forums when I hit a wall and need a hand to figure something out.

My CF-18 recently got a ITD (internet transmitted dieses) and it wasn't just one of those annoying ones that you can kind of live with for awhile that just tries to infect lots of people till you find the right ointment and it goes away...
No I got a stage 4 brain cancer one.

I was just out there on the net minding my own business' when a cmd window appeared and started installing stuff, so i started going "oh noyou don't!" and proceeded to try to pull the information about what it was doing but it closed and suddenly everything just started to bog down. well in my infinite wisdom i decided to reboot, and from that point on I could only get so far as boot options. then no matter what choice followed would be a black screen.

So now a few months later, and i decided to sit down and have a go at fixing it before crying and taking it up to the range and like old yeller putting the loyal TB down the way it was ment to be.

After much fretting and asprin ...I was about to give up, until I remembered this forum...

within two min and a quick search I had some answers and no I'm into a bootable thumbdrive running surgical strikes into the heart of the cancer.

I imagine this will take some time, and I may or may not be back to check this for awhile. regardless I thought it important to send my thanks to everyone for this excellent forum. Hopefully I will have time to check back more often, and can load pictures of ol' yeller frollockin' in the hills (in the jeep) instead of being put down by a 3" hi-valocity rifled slug.

so in the end... no matter how it turns out.

    Thank You,

Well that seems to be the most descriptive way of saying I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows ever....

Thought I'd add the backstory to my thanks, I now have a hope of recovering or saving my HDD where before all was but lost.

Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam Softwares are fine, but with Imaging my Toughbook is almost immortal!

One cheap 8GB flash drive and my Acronis True Image and I am back to, "good as new!" Everyone should be doing this, otherwise your "tough"book will fall to the first geek virus or Malware writer it meets that can bypass your defensive software.
