hi to all and first of all, merry christmas and happy new year from France !

Best wishes for you and all your family, I hope that 2008 will be synonymous of health, happinness, and success...

but back to the thread...I own for 2 works a magnificent pana R5, but I have noticed 2 little problems :
    - first of all, even if I let the computer charge overnight, the battery gauge gets to a maximum level of 80%, about 5 hours incated (using an usb hspd modem). the battery's symbol is full blue however...
    - then, I can't find the drivers to use the fn keys, to set the sound level (fn 6-7), brightness(fn1-2) and...

As my japanese reading is far more weaker than my english speaking (you can now imagine how I'm desperate...) thank you in advance

I can't even find any evidence that Panasonic ever made an R5... just the R4 (Which was sold only in Japan). I've found references to an R5, but the "Official homepage" of these things is some company that sells laptops, which lists it's specs below what the R4 was.

In short, I've got zero clue as to how to help you... I'll keep looking, but it's not looking promising.

I have a Y5 and an R6. I can try to send you all the drivers in english if you would like. Or you can go to the Canadian Panasonic site and download the Y5 drivers from there. Almost all of the are the same, especially the hotkeys and battery calibration software.

Steve, thanks for the info, i'll try to visit the Canadian site when I'll come back from the hospital next monday, so don't bother send me anything.

I have tried from this site :

    https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/itn/drivers/d_menu_en.html

but the R5 is unlisted, and some of the W5 and T5 drivers listed here have in their name the reference to R5, so I'll try it later

    Again "Merci beaucoup" Steve !

    Whatho Philalix,

And a happy new year from England!

Battery: I have a W4. It has an 'ECO' (economy) mode which prevents the battery from charging to more than 80% when turned on - I suspect yours is the same thing. The idea is that if you use it plugged in to mains power most of the time this reduces stress on the battery.

The W4 has two power lights on the front, one of which says 'ECO' next to it -I don't know if the R5 has the same. You can turn the ECO mode on or off in two ways on the W4:

    1. On the taskbar there is a sort of horizontal green battery sign that may say ECO underneath it. Click this and then choose 'Economy Mode (ECO) Disable'.

    2. Try Start | Programs | Panasonic | Battery | Economy Mode (ECO) Setting Utility, and turn it off from there. Although I've just tried that on mine and it didn't seem to do anything.

Of course the R5 might be entirely different! But I hope this will help. The R models look very tempting, but I will have to get a few more years use from my W4 first I think!

    All the best,

    Dave

Dave, is that Speed Six, as in late-20's Bentley?
