I'm curious what you are all paying monthly for your AT&T Laptop Connect Internet access service??

I tried it at $29.99 per month until I realized ther signal sucked just about everywhere I went.... Especially when I needed it most.

I have since switched to Verizon and the Droid and tether when needed.... 3G speed and no monthly payments... Except for my cell phone service. I have yet to go to any place I cannot connect.

$60/Month Unlimited; but they are not offering that to new subscribers anymore.

Here are the current at&t Rate Plan charges: Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN)

My Droid has the "Unlimted" plan... Which is actually capped at 5GB... Which I'd never hit on my cell phone unless I watched streaming video all month long... Likewise... With where I surf and checking email... I wouldn't hit that only using it every now and then while tethered.... Though it came in VERY handy while on vacation in Maine.

Capped*—provides low costs in low-usage months, predictable cost protection in higher-usage months.

•Designed for deployments with a small number of sites
•Can be used to determine usage patterns to help identify optimal price plan

    MRC Data (MB) Overage (KB)
    $29.99 20 $0.001

So how much is 20mb of data use? I guess what I'm asking is what can one do with a 20 mb data plan??

With 20MB Data Plan you could check email and that is about it... Unless you tell your browser not to open any pictures and other graphics... I would imagine it would be pretty lean.

or about 8 pages on crackbook.
E-mail I would exceed that as I have lots of business attachments.

I as well use a tethered phone on a 10GB data plan (grandfathered through Bell Canada since my plan no longer exists as well )

Yeah you could check your email for maybe about a day without turning everything multimedia off like TB said above. Typical surfing will easily go through 20MB in an hour. or so!

That 20MB plan mentioned above is for business customer to get an idea of what their usage would be and to help choose the correct business data plan.

AT&T's plan for consumers is called "DataConnect" and has had better rates. As of the 7th of June their prices improved further; 200MB for $35.00 and 5GB for $60.00. The rates are better but the overage rates are steeper, one would have to be mindful of their data usage with the 200MB plan.

I'm afraid my AT&T Data package is for my iPwn, not my laptop. I believe it caps at 5GB/mo with the "OMG, my @ss feels like hamburger!" pricing schedule...

(SLIGHTLY less than $200/mo for 2 iPwns)

Just another reason to love my new Incredible. $29.99/month for unlimited data on a service that you can actually connect to! We're not tweeting or IMing yet, but I do love this phone. The GPS is truly incredible, free from Google. No limits on thethering either, the VZAccess software came in the box with the phone.
