Okay... I have several CF-30s with the AT&T (Cingular) WWAN sleds installed. Normally I leave this to the end user to set up but I figured that I would try. I can remember setting up Verizon and Sprint WWANs before with no issues but the AT&T is stumping me here. I am running W7.

Device Manager is showing two Data Interface items that I am assuming is the WWAN as all other drivers are installed and everything works great.

I have noticed that MS Updates has the Novatel Drivers as an optional download... But I have not downloaded them as I wanted to make sure I got the right one installed.

Does the AT&T WWAN need to have a SIM installed to get it to be seen?

I downloaded the AT&T driver and Sierra Watcher as it looks like the only thing that would or should work.

Here's the dope on the laptop...

    Hi Rick

Does the AT&T WWAN need to have a SIM installed to get it to be seen?

Rick it should power up and say "insert sim"

It may be one of these.... Panasonic Mobile Computer Wireless Carrier Software

    Mobilink for HSDPA Modules
    Mobilink software for CF-18, CF-19, CF-29, CF-30, CF-52, CF-T7, CF-W7 and CF-Y7 supporting Windows XP SP2 or Vista with Novatel EU730 modules
    Mobilink2.2.30.zip [zip, 17mb]
    Mobilink for HSDPA Modules
Mobilink software supporting Windows XP SP2 or Vista with Novatel EU860D modules
    Mobilink_v2.02.40.017.zip [zip, 18mb]

Yup... I know that's where to get the software. I haven't found one that works... Though I haven't tried the XP drivers.

There is no SIM chip installed and I don't know if that's what it needs to be seen. That was the question in my original post...

No advice on this guys? I could swear that I have seen something about this on the forum but can't find it.

The Mobilink Installer won't even install and the Sierra Watcher shows "No Device"

    Ideas?

Yup... I've read those looking for the missing piece to the puzzle. When I go to install Mobilink... It starts the install and then it stops and does a roll-back. Then states there have been no changes made to my laptop.

I don't have an activated SIM to install but I am sure I can scare up an old SIM from the days I used to hack phones.

Worth a shot or any other ideas?

    Rick

Is it possibly a EU860D? These two files I have setup a EU860D on XP without a sims MobiLink3_v3.00.21.005.zip and Panasonic_v2.02.40.017.zip These would install and MobiLink would open and say insert sim.

This will update the cards firmware from 3.6 to 7.2 0418686_MUU_EU860D_Panasonic_Canada_pkg.zip... Also check the dip settings.

    Nick,

Yup... EU860D... I already check the DIP switches and they are correct. I'll have to try the others tonight...

EDIT: Okay... where do I find MobiLink3_v3.00.21.005.zip?

I see v2.03 on their site but not v3.00

    Nick,

Thank you! The generic installed and came up with the "SIM NOT FOUND"... The Panasonic version would not install... It gets half way through and then rolls back the installation.

Looks like it will work with a SIM card. I'll have to see what it does with one of my old ones...

    Thanks again!

    Hi Rick

Back when I had 8525 AT&T work phone I would put the sims in the sled and change isp.cingular to wap.cingular and it would work.

Yeah... But the SIM cards I have are about 6-7 years old and have been dead for quite awhile.
