    So, i can buy a 2nd hand (B-ware) Itronix Gobook III IX260+ Centrino 1.8GHz /512/ 40/ 30.7cm 12.1" for 149 euros.

lacking the internal DVD-player + connector and the internal battery is bad.

Okay, this aint about a panasonic toughbook, but anyhow, Is that Itronix good enough to survive a hardcore cyberpunk, that likes to throw his laptops against concrete walls, dance on top of his laptop, while at a techno party, or just spill beers on it ?

    Is the Itronix... Punkrock-proof ?

    NO!

Seriously, we have a few of these at work and they do not impress me at all. They are almost all plastic, the system fan is really pretty loud, and they have not held up very well even when kept in a fairly pampered environment in a vehicle cradle. Calling them semi-rugged is even a bit of a stretch in my experience with them. In short they are no ToughBook.

And they are as ugly as a mud fence IMHO. :D

I have had gobooks - took one to greenland and ran it on the icecap with bad weather, bad solar power supplies etc. outdoors in the snow gathering data - spindrift collecting on the keys and screen - no problem - plenty strong in my opinion - the screens suck though - too small to gobble up a webpage satisfactorily but that was a gobook II (think III is similar) - toughbooks are better - but the ugliness of gobooks has a certain appeal - they dont have a good handle arrangement unlike tb which is the only reason i always want a tb - makes every other laptop design look silly on that issue alone.
