    Hello,

my name is Karl and I am an addict.
My addiction is starting to get expensive, as I'm about to pull the trigger on a CF33:
    - Premium Keyboard
    - i5-7300U
    - 16 gb RAM
    - 512 gb SSD
    - LTE
    - WLAN with Atheros.ac (instead of Intel.ac)
    - no Webcam

    CF-VEB331U - Desktop Port Replicator
    PCPE-LDY0454 - USB Port Blocker
    PCPE-SYSSSB1 - Breakable Shoulder Strap
PCPE-PSLOGOB - Badge with custom text

    Questions:
    1) I know that [parts of] US military use Atheros wifi cards, as they seem to share my Intel paranoia ;-)
I couldn't find them in the configurator. Is there some special trick to ordering those?
    2) Bespoke Guide states that custom badge for 30+ units or on "special request" with "setup fee" ...
Does anyone know in which ballpark that " setup fee" will be?
    3) What kind of SSD do they put in these days? I'm very happy with the cheap Samsung 830/850 SSDs that I use in my cf19mk3 and cf19mk6 ... and thus need help deciding on getting a small SSD and upgrade myself VS getting a big one from Panny. Also: Do they offer 1tb SSDs?
    4) Hard to decide between all those shoulder straps. Is there a definitive winner?
    5) Just to be sure: CF33 is still fanless, right? (scared by cf31 performance model *urgs*)

    Thanks

    BTW, In case you're wondering why upgrade a 19 to a 33 instead of a 20:
basically same mass and volume as cf19, but bigger screen. also cannot replace ssd on cf20.

*something* about "first born male child" ...
    :p :D

yep , you can get a 1TB ssd and clone the spinner drive cheaper than you can get panasonic to shove one in for you .
does panasonic have the option for a spinner instead of their 512GB "stock" ssd drive ?

    hi cwb32,
the configurator only offers 256/512g ssd, no platters.
    but yeah, good, cost-efficient idea

Also, I'd be more than happy to name my first born Toughbrat ;-)

    cf33 blows due to fan
cf20 is a tough sell due to non-swapable ssd and slow cpu

If you don't need fully rugged, grab a CF-C2 and put an SSD in it. I really liked the one I had and it was cheap used and very fast. And no fan.

I was thinking about the cf-c2 when it came out in 2013/2014. got an x230t instead. then an cf19mk6 as i didn't really like the flimsiness of the x230t.
all three mentioned product families are EOL now.
all three mentioned products are STILL FASTER than a current cf20.

    "cf33 blows due to fan"
why , yes it does .
    :p :D

if the specs suck , don't get it .
maybe that is why some mechanics still have torque wrenches that are over 50 years old ?
there are still '19s and '31s available .

    i have a cf-c1 ... except for that silly-arsed round mousepad , it works rather well .
i think the cf-c2 has a better processor in it and a non-round mousepad .
really , didn't panasonic notice that over the years there have been but very very few round mouspads ?
lessee here ... lcd is rectangular ... mousepad should logically be the same shape and/or format .
however , both of them are not fully rugged .
