Hello,
I am currently looking to purchase a CF-19 MK3 off of kijiji. The seller has two, one with the camera one without. I am opting for the one without for the additional RAM slot.
Anyways the one with the camera had GPS which is also a feature I'd like.
Now my question, can you just add a Gobi 2000 WWAN card for 3G/GPS to ANY CF-19 MK3 or is the slot needed only an option on some?
I currently have an MK1 with a pooched touchscreen that I use as a topographical GPS/video editor when off-roading. The ability to upload video from the road would be nice but the GPS is my primary use.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks =)

Does your mk1 have gps? wwan?
You should be able to add wwan to any cf19... -
My MK1 does not have WWAN or GPS. I currently use a USB GPS module.
I am looking at a MK3 from a local seller on Kijiji. It doesn't come with 3G or GPS so I wanted to know if I could just add the Gobi2000 WWAN card to get both the 3G and GPS.
I've been hesitant to upgrade my current MK1 as the touchscreen is bad the the lower left corner doesn't work. -
From the CF 19 FAQ..
WWAN READY
All CF-19 models are WWAN Ready. These models take the M-PCI-E type cards and all of them have a sims card slot with protective cover.
WWAN CARDS KNOWN TO WORK
GOBI 1000 Mk1, Mk2
GOBI 2000 Mk1, Mk2
(more to come)
Yes, the Mk2 used Gobi 1000.
In which case there are differences between Europe and the US. In Europe:
CF-19mk1 had Novatel EU740
CF-19mk2 had Novatel EU870D
CF-19mk3 had Qualcomm Gobi 1000
CF-19mk4 will have Qualcomm Gobi 2000

anyone checked this?:
"Installing the Drivers
The problem with installing the drivers is caused by a library that Qualcomm uses to support the installation called difxapi. The supporting DLL for this API is included in the installation package and it conflicts with the Windows 7 version, this conflict causes a custom action in the installation routine to fail and forces a rollback of the installation.
To fix the problem we need only to replace this DLL with the one from your Windows 7 installation. If you don’t have it already you need to download the driver installation package from your laptop manufacturer’s support site and extract it somewhere.
Starting from where you unarchived your package look for a directory similar to “\Driver\Source\Module Retargetable Folder\QCUSB-Lenovo\DriverPackage\Microsoft\DIFxAPI”. Now you just need to replace the difxapi.dll here with the one from “c:\windows\system32\”. If you are running 64-bit Windows then copy the DLL into the amd64 subdirectory, for 32-bit installations copy the DLL into the x86 directory, if you’re not sure you can safely copy it into both directories.
Once you replace this DLL the setup.exe under the “Driver” directory should now run successfully. Once the installation finishes verify that you have the “QCUSB-*” and “QDLService” directories under “c:\QUALCOMM”."
Qualcomm Gobi WWAN Card on Windows 7
Re: CF-19 MK2 with Gobi 2000 WWAN problems
Got it working! Well, I only have the sim card from my smartphone to test with, and it didn't let me connect to the data network (hopefully because it isn't a data only sim card), but it was able to receive sms messages so at least the radios were talking.
It now seems pretty evident that the Panasonic CSA software is simply not going to cooperate with a non-Panasonic Gobi card. At least, not without some serious poking around. What I ended up doing was Googling the hardware ID for my card (USB\VID_1199&PID_9001), which turned up some Toshiba Seirra Wireless Gobi drivers and their equivalent CSA software. And they worked! Luckily it must not be doing any hardware check beyond the wwan card.
I am not entirely sure if the BIOS update was needed since the Panasonic CSA stuff behaved exactly the same before and after, but I cant go back and the Toshiba drivers on the old BIOS obviously.

Ummm I didn't do any of the above as I remember but my MK2 TS (19) is scrolling off GPS and showing three bars from 17 miles away from the tower. Fujitsu Gobi 2000 with Fujitsu drivers and package. I noticed Panasonic is still on there but I used NONE of it. It may not work for everybody but it works with VZAM.7.3.3.1 (2515a) Consumer release Fujitsu. Sierra Wireless Gobi 2000 HS-USB Modem. Hardware Version C01B2000.
This was installed in April. I do see two items WWAN control Components and Wireless Wan Software Installer for Gobi 2000 in Uninstall window dated 10/31/13. Should probably lose those. O.K. they're gone. And re-boot and bingo...no change. Just don't try to mix and match with Panasonic CSA.

The above quoted paragraph covers it. This is how I found drivers in the first place. >>>Using the USB/VID_PID_9001 and google. (Second line in Properties/Details from Device Manager.....namely hardware i.d.s. from any of the Gobi entries...for instance NMEA 9001) (abbreviated) BTW that's the GPS line. (The CF-19 MK4 had a better antenna for GPS)UNCNDL1 likes this.
