OK, I've searched the threads, but didn't find an answer.

I'm currently using a Pantech PX-500 EVDO card in a PCMCIA slot, but I can't close the cover.

I want to add an internal EVDO (Sprint) modem to my CF-29ETKGZKM. I've seen the modem cards on eBay, but they do not include the antenna, etc. and my CF-29 doesn't have the antenna. Is it reasonably possible?

    EK,
I use the S720 in a PCMCIA slot. Can't close the door on that one either. I would love to have an internal one that would work with everything buttoned up.

There are a lot of knowledgeble and helpful folks on this site, and sooner or later they will come up with something that will make us say "why didn't I think of that?".

You might try searching for the kit. If I remember correctly, doesn't include the antenna or modem itself but does have everything else to hook it up internally where it normally goes - above the battery. CF-WEW29006A (might find the 29006 too). The modem is EM5625S. These are all panasonic part numbers but someone else may know a different solution like a card that doesn't stick out the door.

I might still have a sierra 555 aircard sitting around somewhere, works faster than dialup - just not as fast as the newest sierra cards. It fits in the CF-28 and you can keep it there with the port door closed with the antenna off. I actually was able to stow the antenna in the bay as well, with the door closed, for storage. I was planning on using it and finding the proper antenna fitting to re-route the antenna somewhere else, but now I am using a USB aircard. I imagine it would work on the 29's as well.

EDIT - hmmmm, now that I think about it I may reconsider re-using the sierra 555 card again now that I did a quick search and found that external antennas are available, never really looked before now... 555 cards are available for cheap on *Bay.

Quick google for "sierra 555 external antenna" found this:

    http://www.alternativewireless.com/sierra-air-card/sierra-air-card-300-350-550-555-750.html

Perhaps I should do this Mod after all!

Only problem, after I add the second SMA jumper for WIFI , along with the existing GPS and WIFI on LCD, and possible SMA for in vehicle GPS (even better reception), I think I am running out of antenna room!!!!!
