Hi, What is the best solution:
1) get hold of a good GPS kit that are "plug 'n play" and made to fit internally, if there is some good kits that are worth investing in.
2) get a nice USB GPS puck
I do know how to solder a bit, but soldering SMD stuff is NOT an option, since i do not have the tools.
I do have some knowledge of electronics since i was educated on basic electronics ( transistors, resistors, ESD and so on).
I do know how to upgrade the internal hardware ( ram, disks etch ) on laptops and stationary computers.

Have you read the very nice thread here on this exact subject?
The one in my CF-29N is the result of these guys trailblazing research! I am very happy with it. I put mine in about 2 hours, the first time. Due to complications with Win7, that are now solved I had to do it several more times. I think that I could do it in 30 minutes today.
The cable will be the hardest part, perhaps one of the pros on here could help you with that. -

cz75.... You sound like a very intelligent person. Have you the tools to solder? If so, the pinouts are published and you can make your own superb kit yourself... It takes some reading and research.... But the best things in life aren't free.

I don't like the idea of reading and searching for lots of information.
I noticed that you mount a sarantell antenna in the wwan location, the one i am going to get does have wwan. I can perhaps pull out the wwan gear and use a sarantell antenna in the wwan loaction, and a gps kit from custom toughbooks.
If i only had the skills and necessary tools to construct and solder a pcb board with a CH-4706 GPS/GLONASS SMD receiver module, and the needed components, and the right connectors..
There is a GPS puck/mouse with a CH-4706 inside:

the doc on that one is:
http://www.nvstech.ch/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/CH-4711_leaflet.pdf
It is supported by gpsd in linux.
it can be found on the list of supported units here:

Perhaps someone should make a how to page, with pictures and step by step information?
Adding a GPS to a CF-29HTM50BM ?
