I've read some useful posts on the forum saying that it is possible to add a digitizer to a touch only CF19 and would appreciate some advice please.

Having removed the top cover from the donor dual touch CF19 it looks to me as if the LED screen and the digitizer is one unit. I was expecting a separate digitzer panel installed in addition to the touch screen assembly.

Do I have to swap the whole LED assembly or is the wacom digitzer separate?. if so is it in front or behind the LED screen. How does it separate?

    Or am I completely misunderstanding?

    CF-19KDR01CE (mk3) donor and CF-19RHRUHDE (mk4) recipient.

    mk3 to mk4 will work.
Pretty much plug in play, if I recall.
I always used the hinge and all. That made it easier than re wrapping the wires around the hinge.
Unplug wires at motherboard and antenna and loosen the 4 large screws. Top half lifts right off.

    Thanks Shawn.

How do I separate the digitizer panel from the LED screen?

It looks as if it is all one panel to me but I don't want to force anything apart in case I break it.

you DONT separate it. Just swap the entire top half of the CF 19.
    It's much easier.

    Thanks.

I just want to move the digitizer section from one unit to the other.

There are some posts on the forum that I may have misunderstood

The mk4 I have is in perfect condition with only 300 hours but is Touch only. The mk3 Dual Touch is beaten up and has 13500 hours. So I want to move the digitizer bit from the mk3 to the mk4 screen with the lower hourage.

My understanding of the posts I've read was that it is possible to add a digitizer to a touch only screen.

not sure if the digitizer portion comes off easily.
If you can perform that, then you still need to swap the entire wiring harness.
Both panels have led backlight so not really much concern over the higher hours panel.

You could take all the insides out of the mk3 and put them into the mk4 metal housing.

So I must have just misunderstood the posts about adding a digitizer.

I'm sure I've even seen a picture of the separate digitzer "sheet" in one of the threads.

I'll have to re read them.

    Couple things.....
    1. By just take the digitizer screen there is always a chance of breaking . It's stuck on the front very good.

    2. Changing/rerunning the wire is another pain so be very careful not to pinch or break them.

This is the reason why Shawn says swap the whole lid....less chances of things going wrong. This is how I did mine years.

And yes I learned the hard way. I have broke screens before changing them .

    Thanks for the advice all.

Not as straightforward as it sounded.

I think I will leave as it is!

Yes! You can. It was only held by double sided tape on both side of LCD but you need to take out the LCD harness, LED inverter and TS digit. board too and pull outward the the thin LCD pcb board. Btw you need also to transfer the harness of dual touch. I can say a lot of work.

As adviced above better to replace the top half.
