I think it's NMEA port. Try to install it manually or google for the problem. Not a Panasonic question for sure :)
Your modem has to work already.

    RE: mk6
Does it have a screen protector on it?
If it does, it probably needs replaced.

    Hello Shawn,

The Screen protector has been removed. But its a bit yellowish.
the only fix is to open night shift mode in windows 10 and its all sweet.

But when its normal in white background the screen is a bit yellowish in outer corner and in black background its a bit bright white. Its very different in my mk7 even though my MK7 has more hours in its bios..My MK4 right now don't have a problem with the yellowish screen (band of yellow color on either side of the screen).

Do you think its toasted because it has been used in hot environment. Screen works Wacom pen and Panasonic Toughbook pen.

Back to my MK4 in question. I am having problem with the battery connectionit wont detect the battery sometimes b48t when I wiggle it or mo9ve it a bit the battery is again detected.
Loose battery contact? (Battery is perfectly fine).

    See attached photo.

It is possible that a hot environment caused the plastic to yellow.
possibly the battery connector is faulty.
That's not a common problem but you never know.
Start a private conversation with me. I should have a spare battery connector somewhere.

    Stolen from this thread
    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1854591

PROPOSED SOLUTION: Toughbooks sold in Australia do not come with GOBI2000 as Telstra do not support this device. They will either have a Novatel EU870D or a Sierra MC8700 modem. The drivers and Telstra connection manager for these can be downloaded from the Panasonic Australia website. At the time of writing this EU870D modems can be purchased for ~$40 delivered on ebay. I will replace the GOBI2000 with an EU870D and install the package provided by Panasonic Australia and let you know if this works.

NOTE! The software from Panasonic Australia is not specially for Panasonic, for instance the MC8700 has a Telstra connection manager package:
    http://www.m2mconnectivity.com.au/brands/sierra-wireless/sierra-wireless-airprime/mc-series/mc8700
I believe this is the same package as downloadable from the Panasonic website.

Some wwan modems in Panasonics have the gps disabled. I think that's because dedicated GPS is an option and Panasonic wanted to avoid conflict or confusion.

Did you go into BIOS / optional configuration (password= toughkit) and set the proper code?
    No, I don't know the code for a MC8700

GPS and WWAN are all enabled. The bios has no password.. I think its the drivers that's not compatible in windows 10..

EU870d is not compatible with Win10. It can work, but it's not compatible, so it's a permanent pain. Just upgraded eu870d->gobi2000 (19 mk3) a few days ago :))
Install Skylight and check whether it works.
It seems MC8700 doesn't have gps.

Try older Sierra Aircard Watcher versions. I have to admit your modem is too old and the best way is to upgrade it to gobi2000 or 3000. There is USD10 Panasonic MC8355 module on ebay.

We understand you have no BIOS password BUT you DO have one for your optional configuration which is toughkit . Then you need to set the proper code which we do not have in order to get it to work. Wonder what the code is in your MK2 ?

    Example...4 or 04 ( this was for a CF-53 wwan)

mk4 doesn't have optional kit config in bios. That's mk5+ feature.

That's right theres no optional kit config in mk 1-4.

But in MK2 that I have you I just install novatel and windows recognized its 3G capabilities.

I have MK6 and MK7 and after installing the drivers the cellular was recognized in windows 10.

Its just this MK4 with MC8700. Also the Telstra MC8704 wont install..

I am giving up....and let it be...

Does the mk4 use dip switches rather than bios configuration to set the wwan type?

No, it doesn't. There are 3 options: WWAN is disabled and hidden in BIOS, WWAN is disabled and shown in BIOS (after SPGOBI software), WWAN is enabled and shown in BIOS. Any WWAN module :)
