I ordered one today to see if it works, seems like a worthy substitute. I will when post pictures when I get it.

I have used those s ilicone skin cases many times for storing spare HDD and for my CF-51 + CF-29 which had no foam inside the caddy but never thought of that . The Skin case only cost about $2.00-$3.00 but a 3-4 week wait (China) .

Ive used those drive cover skins as well, nice cheap protection.
This product looks thicker and is really built up at the corners. It may just work. Can't wait to hear about testing.

I'd try it for everyday or SSD use, but I wouldn't want to do any drop testing with.

It appears to be an excellent candidate for the PATA/SATA adapter thing; ESPECIALLY for use with an SSD.

Yay it came today in an envelope here the pictures

    This was the contents

    The caddy

Those 2 squares are Velcro so if you have a mk 2 or mk 3 it will still fit without moving around.

    The caddy completed

Still a bit of wiggle room but with the velcro, it doesn't move around at all.

The Toughbook detects the drive and they seem to have a decent return policy if it doesn't work or your not satisfied. For 40$ its a good bargain if you don't feel like spending 90$+ on a new or used one from ebay.

I would run some Kapton tape (Or at least a few layers of Electrical tape) on the top of those connections so there is no possibility of it shorting out.
