As the title says... It works just perfect.
Now I'm wondering if I can take a newer higher-capacity CF-30 battery, grind off the little tab and shove it into a CF-29...
Hmmmmm.................![]()

I finally found a post on this subject. Ohlip put one in a CF 51. A CF 29 and CF 51 use the same battery.

I already told the story of this battery from CF-30 to cf-29. It doesn't work. I put it in a fully charged battery from CF-30 to CF-29 and then a few second it started to a flashing red. Tried to start up the cf-29! no nothing. Put it back to cf-30 and its fine. But it works flawlessly on my cf-51 dual core model. Now! I've got 3-6hrs on the unit depending on your setting thogh. I never try it to CF-51 single core coz I don't have those unit. My conclusion is that it will not. The chip read only to an specific unit with dual core.
As Rob.. reported the cf-29 battery is backward compatible between the two but I don't khow how it long last.
ohlip
And so I put a CF-29 battery in a CF-30...
