Pics attached! It came out PERFECT! All I did was take out the two stylus's and put the line through the machine. I used 96lb test steel line with aluminum clamps which I used a large handheld vicegrip to crimp.
Thanks

But I would make one suggestion here: use plastic-coated cable in place of the plain, uncoated cable shown. -
I had to choose between that and the main reason why I didn't go with plastic coated is because it makes crimping it much harder...
I have parts for a CF-74 here - in particular the bottom cover. And everything in that stylus holder that goes through the machine is sealed so it's okay that it's metal and not coated in plastic/rubber. -

Since your photos show that there is sufficient excess cable to allow the cable to "saw back & forth" within the channel, I would suggest obtaining a length of properly-sized stainless steel tubing to run through the case for the cable to ride against.
Stainless fares better against the "sawing" action than does cast magnesium. -
I didn't think of that.... Hmmmm....
I'll let you know how it wears in the long run. Worst comes to worse I'll just replace the whole bottom... After all I got 3 extras lol -
Rob,
Do you have an REI store near you? They can't be beat for straps and hardware for same. Alternatively, a good camera store will have the nylon cord type of neck strap attachmens that can be attached to a small hole on a computer and have a variety of types of plastic fixtures to attach a strap to -- to avoid eating up the finish of the camera/computer. I added a set to the rings on my CF-31 to protect the magnesium from the strap hardware -- works great. -
I think the business rugged elitebooks don't get a lot of attention in the forum but the black toughbook s9 is the sexiest machine ever! If only it had an expresscard port so I could Vidock. I love my 52 but I just don't use it anymore. (not practical for me) -
They haven't discontinued the 74's yet man... But yes, a sandybridge 74 would be nice...

If you do not want to use the plastic coated wire, just use the wire you have and run a piece of plastic tubing over it, using a size that most closely matches the diameter of the wire. You can also use an a piece of shrink wrap in the color of your choice and make it exactly the size you need before you put the heat to it.

Let's see if they let this stay...
And so I put a shoulder strap on my mothers CF-74...
