And so I shoved a 2GB Patriot DDR2 5300 chip in a CF-29L3LGZBM and it worked! It shows up as 2048MB in the BIOS!![]()

Are you sure about that???
DISREGARD: Forgot that this is a Mk4; the Mk4 and Mk5 use DDR2 RAM -
My Laptop is the same model and uses DDR2.
Where can I get that RAM at. I would like to use the EXACT same as you. Got a link?
Thanks -
Is that a MK4?
-
(Looks at model of CF-29 in his signature.......close enough)............WOOT! Yes, the part number of the memory you used would be very much appreciated.
-
It's déjà vu all over again!
Congratulations, what did it show in Windows? Mine shows 2.25GB in Windows and 1.99GB in the BIOs. -

works in cf-29L3LGWBM as well....Driller thanks,Az!

JB007Rules, anyone else that might want to reply, I know cf-29 mk 4-5 don't compare with cf-30 in specs, but since you have both I presume, how do you feel they compare in performance in everyday applications, there is for now a significant price differential, but down and dirty, more bang for your buck with a cf-29 mk 4-5?

I guess its the onboard 256mb thing. The One time my 512mb was a mistake, instead of a value. lol
-
I used the Crucial 2GB, 200 pin DDR2 from Newegg.com... I think it cost $45 or so.
You MUST have the 256MB on board RAM for this to work. I think the 512MB was ruled out as a non-working thing... -
~Rob - waiting to get his hands on a CF-31 so he can beat them all!~ -
Yeah.... But THIS is about CF-29s...
I'd like a CF-31 too.... But then I'd like the winning Powerball numbers too! -
Okay, so it shows up as 1.99GB in Windows XP Pro... weird that it doesn't show up as 2.25GB...
EDIT: The RAM is as follows: PSD22G6672S - Patriot -
Cool. So it would appear that several different brands and part numbers are working. Most of what I read in Azriel's awesome original thread were success with a particular brand/ part number. Incidentally, looking up the part number that Rob used on Newegg, there is a $10 mail-in rebate and free shipping special on it for anyone else considering the upgrade.

So here is some food for thought. I tried two other sticks of 2GB chips and they BOTH worked:
Nanya NT2GT64U8HC0BN-3C - 2GB PC 5300
Samsung M470T5663QZ3-CE6 - 2GB PC 5300
I have determined that any 2GB PC5300 DDR2 RAM chip SHOULD work. -

Read this thread and ordered my 2 gig stick, have it in my machine now, and it showes up as 2048 meg of ram, cpuz says the same. Have XP running right now but I am planning on upgrading to Windows 7 today, previously I was getting Memory errors with Windows 7 and Vista on this machine, I am in hopes it will cure that problem, as I have seen where others have successuflly installed both 7 and vista on the CF-29 MK5
And so I shoved a 2GB chip in a CF-29L3LGZBM
