    Hi there,

Long time since I was here but I got fed up with my touchscreen not working and stuck my head in the sand.

Now I made another try to get it to work. I have updated driver to v 1.0.0.3_19k... and the screen respond. But the cursor just jump to the far right side. I move it back to anywhere on the screen and try pointing, and it jumps back to the right side on the same level as where I pointed.

I suppose there is dirt in the corner but can´t find any, even with an otoscope and a toothpick.

Please help, what should I do?

Sorry but it's a hardware fault
When the touchscreen fails the usual symptoms are either that it does not respond at all
Or in your case the curser moves to the bottom right when you touch anywhere on the screen

I take it your asking about your CF-18

    Thanks for the quick reply

    Sorry,
    yes it´s cf-18KHHZBLS

    What can I do?

Second: I get bluescreen when I try to install MeitBtn.inf. What should that be installed on? HID/Videocontroller?

Several options on the hardware repair, but buying a cheaper used mk-4/5 panel is not recommended as it will fail

A new touch panel is $100- $200 + the cost of removal and replacement
Here is a link to a generic panel

TOUCHSCREEN TOUCH SCREEN Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 CF19 - eBay (item 260703705585 end time Mar-05-11 10:50:32 PST)

It's not cheap ,but the tablet is not a tablet without a touchscreen

    Or repair the panel
The only one that can perform this is Teo
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/member.php?u=92663

He lives in Canada so you would have to pay for shipping both ways from the EU + a quite reasonable amount for his time to repair it

He just repaired my cf-18 mk-5 panel and I am a happy camper again

On software loading are you using restore disks , or a genaric xp load + all the drivers ?

What he said. The good thing about the new panel is that it is bright and fresh. Also the ribbon cable is more substantial. Don't get me wrong ....Teo can also do you an excellent job.
I have installed three panels so far in Mark 29s. They only require a new screen protector after completion.

Its good that ebay member techtough (Andre) has the generic panels
I believe the original panasonic panels would cost over $150 + heartlands min shipping and handling fee's

Make that four. Replaced the panel in the CF-18. Works excellent. I did re-seat cables on the old screen after I got into the lid. No joy. For now until I get a new screen protector I'm going to use the old one.

I intend to send it my friend. I'm trying to figure out which Bezels for CF-29 I will send you. Need anything else? And I will send at least one maybe it's two bare CF-29 touch panels.

All the time I had the lid open I was looking for a place to add an active patch antenna on the inside.

Jeff, Just the TS panel glass with the cable are enough though. You may have use those Bezel for your future project.

O.k. I'll only send the bezel if the panel is still in place. Maybe ????one of those. It will protect the edges of the panels in the envelope. May be a week or more.

Thanx once again for your invaluble support.

Guess what: I opened the screen to have a look, touched and fiddled a little but couldn´t see anything suspicious. Put it back together, AND IT WORKS !!! Sometimes I think I have magic hands.

Remains to see for how long. But now I know the solution If it gives me problem again. I have been suspicious about the contact for the cable from the touchscreen before. Maybe that was the problem.

    cheers

I put it back together and it stopped working lol

Fixed now ,thanks to Ohlip Service Center

I have w7 installed and are trying to get the buttons on the front to work but get bluescreen when I try install MeiTBtn.inf, do I have the wrong version? It´s 2.1.1000_19_3_w732

Or am I installing on the wrong device?

I'm thinking the ribbon cable is a mite thin where it enters the connector on the TS PCB. Mine was crooked and I thought ahHA. Pulled and re-seated and expected it to work but no joy. So installed the new element and bingo! Is that the reason the ribbon cable is taped to the MB ........of course it is.
I'm going to send the old one to Teo and he will put it in another 18 or 19 and I'll bet my back-lit rubber keyboard that it works with no fixing.

Henrik, Many thanks for keeping us advised on your success. It makes it worth while to all both future readers and advise-ers.

Jeff,.. I am working right now to pull the TS and digitizer on CF-18. If I've got enough hardware this rig will have dual touch model. If somebody has a didtizer LCD harness that laying around. Let me know.

Lady in red,..You've got a hardware issue as Tcat mentioned above. Your solution is just a temporary and it will go back again and again. Thats what they called here a TS syndrome.

I belive you, the problem has been there before.

But what about the calibration not working, that must be the software, right?
sometimes it work one step, then nothing. [esc] and the touch work but not calibrated.

    ?? :(

In another thread Gork posted links to an Ubuntu version that the touchscreen works with. How about just making a live cd and boot from it? If the touchscreen functions normally, then we have a driver issue. If the touchscreen still doesn't work, then it's hardware. It seems like a really simple way to separate driver vs hardware issues.

Even if it works(maybe not) If the calibration failed it means still a hardware issue. Sometimes it works but it was offset about I say an inch. Still a hardware issue.

Sorry! I already give my reason a while back for not revealing the fix on TS but if somebody can go back to one of my posted tech. it will give you an idea. Those posted technique is not the same on cleaning the edges.

I have not found your previous post yet, but I will. I understand not wanting to tell all your secrets. But I still would like to know. Insatiable curiosity has always been a dual edged sword for me. It can be really good or really bad.

I found your post as to why you won't share. I understand we all need to make a living and get some profit from our efforts.

I belive you´r right again, the offser is about -4 mm at the top of the screen and nearly an inch + at the bottom and a little less sideways.

What pussels me is that in calibration I have no reaction at all. Even if I move that red cross to the middle of the screen.

I´ve been on it for a while :\
