Sorry guy's, but when it come's to computers, I'm retarded. I only have the one USB port on the back of my CF-28 MkI. I've seen those 4 port USB hubs and was wondering if I can use that. I wanted to use a USB mouse and my flash drive at the same time, can I?

Most of the time yes. The caveat is the power required for whatever you hook up to the hub. You can exceed the power supplied by the CF-28. You do that and nothing will work. Sometimes you can blow your USB port. Your better bet at least in an office or home environment would be a powered USB hub. I have run into cases where the USB drive requires too much power when used with those computer powered USB hubs. In addition, USB 1 ports do not supply as much current as USB 2 ports. I am pretty sure the CF-28 has USB 1 ports.

BTW, the only stupid question is the one not asked.

The "regular" one gets its power from the laptop itself, while the "powered" one has its own external power source (power supply).
    Depends on your source(s).

My choice would be a CF-29 MK4-5 or a CF-51 MK3 Core Duo. The 51 will run you less $$ and its a lot faster too. It can be upgraded to a Core 2 Duo for about $40.00 . I have under $200.00 in mine and its fast :D .

Had the 51 and the Mk3 29 and if you really don't need the ruggedness, the 51 is better. Graphics processor speed, memory upgrades, wider screen. I regret selling it after finding out it was C 2D upgradable. It's like I left my movie star girlfriend and been stalking ebay for another one just as hot and famous.

Six months ago this cf-51 sold with a caddy from buybest for as much as 70buck as Blair also know that. Now! the guy is learning a lesson probably from this site and sell the unit without a caddy and sometimes cd rom drive for much higher price without a caddy. He then sell the caddies separately.

If this guy open the door to at least to a Canadian buyer, he can probably get more.

Keep your optical drive (it works in all 28's and 29's)
    Sell it with a floppy

How about usb on a 29 mk2, I'm new to this and for now I might need to get some things like sd card readers going on usb's. Will any usb setup work with the covers. I was charging a camera for one of my teenagers and noticed there may be some clearance issues with some things. I haven't run into any yet but just thought I would ask.

    @ Tommy0892
You will need a short usb extension cord
At issue is the deep recess
The most common problem is usb flash storage cards will not work as they won't fit in
