Probably a really long shot, but the bottom PCMCIA slot on my CF-18 MK2 had never worked since I bought it. I'm trying to ascertain whether both slots come from the same power rail, to identify if they have a small surface mount fuse on the board, to further confirm the behaviour I'm seeing, where the top slot happily gives power to a device (and even enumerates!), but the bottom one does not.
I took a look inside and found a small metal spring-like object shorting the pins - it looked like a couple of the address lines were shorted together. With great care I removed it, realigned the pins, and tested it, but found it still refuses to play, perhaps rightly so after having a shard of metal jammed up inside it. I struggle to believe that a couple of address lines shorted to each-other could totally trash a slot, but hey, maybe I miscounted the pins against the pinout? I'm at the stage where I'm just going to assume the PCMCIA host controller is trashed anyways.
So, does anyone have any high-resolution photos of a CF-18 motherboard, PCMCIA slot side, or a dead board they could take photos of for me?
I've had a quick look around ebay and the like since the spare boards there have photos, but they're all max 1600 width and don't show much detail to help me.
Thanks in advance.

Odds are you have a blown fuse or 2

I sold a lot of CF-18's but by today's standards they are painfully slow,I do understand use what you have, however. If the cash is right look for a CF-19,even a Mk2 is a huge jump and dirt cheap. Stay away from the Mk1 if you want to use the touchscreen.
if you find the problem I would like to see a photo.
Anyone got CF-18 high-resolution Motherboard Photos?
