    Hello,
Thanks to all the help here I was able to correct a problem with my C-28 screen. I have recently become in charge of trying to help keep up some other C-28's and am in need of another C-28 inverter. I would like to purchase one from someone on this forum since everyone has been so helpful before going to Ebay. Please respond if you have a working one available...I can pay quickly with PayPal.

    Thanks again,
    Kevin

I have one for a 12" that you can have (Because I'm unsure if it'll work with the 13").

You'll have to give me a couple days to dig it out though, but I'll send it to you free if you are in the US.

If it works, great. If not... it's one less thing I've gotta worry about before moving in 9 weeks.

Send me your address via private message.

if you're worrying about things that small, you're in for an unpleasant 9 weeks :)

And to the recipient, please let us know if it works. I'm all cleaned out of complete 28s at the moment so I can't try the experiment myself!

I'm not too worried about it. It's in my "I'll throw it away if I don't get rid of it" pile, rather than my "It's coming with me" pile.

I've got limited space in that hearse, and certain things have to come with me, and any free space left over after that will get filled fast with items of lesser importance.

Keep in mind I've gotta have the whole front seat cleared off for me and my brother to stretch out. The toughbook will be in a mount, but nothing else will be up front.

    Edit;

And just incase, you can still get a lead on a proper inverter board, but you should still try out the 12" board.

There are two different inverters but for all intents and purposes, they're the same. The M's and P's use one while the S's use another. Don't know what the difference is beyond Pana. saying they are different.

Alrighty then. Just to double check, the inverter board has the pink and white wire from the LCD going to it?

Yes - that's the one. Make sure you don't nick your wires unhooking it - they're silicone rubber and slice easily on thin metal like the edges of an LCD.

It's been disassembled for a looooong while. The 12" screen is cracked pretty bad.

Let's just say I took my durability tests a little too far.

Were there power tools involved? Ninjas? What about midget prostitutes and/or farm animals? :mask:

Here is how I cracked the screen (Still worked, just cracked screen and some scratches).

I took it to a keg party at my brother's old place. I threw it off the porch onto the sidewalk like a frisbee 4 times (Distance of 20 feet). I then slammed it down the porch stairs, then jumped on it. Still worked.
More alcohol was involved, then I tested it more.

I threw it across the lawn onto the sidewalk again, then ran towards it and jumped on it again.

That last time though it landed on a sharp rock dead in the middle. When I jumped on it, it tweaked it just enough to crack the screen, by having a pressure point to raise it up, and weight on the sides.

It was fun though. I was able to get a parts book for $90 that I swapped my port covers, hard drive, etc, into. It was for the best... I wanted a 13" anyways.

Like i said, i need to come find your house when you decide to throw all this stuff out! And if you needed a place to store stuff, or i could ship it to you later or something, let me know. i've got lots of storage space.

I used to do stuff like that when I was selling toughbooks. I figured it was ok to sacrifice a few demo units in order to make a good sale! I think I only broke one 25 past the point where I could quickly snap it all back together. 25s tend to lose port covers and keys off the keyboard, but otherwise keep runnin' like a trooper. I quickly learned to only try those stunts with the 25s though.. No way the 71s would take it! We even had a lot of 71s damaged by fedex in shipment, go figure.

LOL - Well, I dunno - my appliance company used to get a lot of parts from GE on the ding & dent trade; they switched from FEDEX to UPS because they were breaking things made out of solid steel & iron... side panels, tops, cast iron grates, griddles... all came through broken. FEDEX Saver shipping is the PITS.

I'd rather FIGHT than switch!
