I have started to look into the Toughbook primarily because my parents have owned three of them and never had any problems and I am in a position to be able to purchase one for the first time.
I have been looking for 12-14' screen laptops with solid build quality and a good battery life. I came across the F9 which seemed to be a great option as it keeps the weight down while still getting a 14' screen and an optical drive.
I just can't seem to find much in the way of firsthand experience with them. I am also considering the 8440 elitebook, the Sony z, and the Lenevo X201/301.
My lifestyle doesn't necessarily warrant a Toughbook per se, but I can't seem to find another option with blend of portability, usability, and durability.
For regular travel, traditional microsoft office applications, web surfing, moderate multimedia use, and regular data analysis with large data sets, would you consider an F9?

Sometimes, late at night, I think about 7 of 9...
But no, I have no experience with the F9 ... or 7 of 9 for that matter. -

hahahaha too funny

Performance wise, it runs WinXP SP3, the usual office stuff like Office (including large spreadsheets) and iTunes - and I can't fault it, runs really well. Obviously it's not blisteringly quick, but for me it does the job pretty well. -
How's the battery life for you with the F9 -
I never really run the battery out, it goes on charge when I'm in the office. The furthest I've run it down is to about 30-40% left, reckon I'd get about 5-6 hours use if I ran it right down.
Anyone have experience with or thoughts about the F9?
