I have a CF-54 without anything in the "option slot" meaning it doesn't have a serial port. I'd like to see if there's any way to get a hardware serial port working so I don't have to drag out my CF-30 whenever I need one. I've seen a few docking stations that have a serial port on them, does anyone know if they are an actual hardware port (vs being emulated via usb) and if so do they require your computer to have a serial port in the first place? Alternatively, does anyone know if the serial port module could be ordered from heartland and installed myself?

The CF 54 True Serial Port can be retrofitted only by Panasonic. You cannot purchase from Heartland unless you are authorized for this retrofit and at this time there is only 1 service center authorized, We can provide this service should you need it. About $150.00 + shipping. Usually take about 3 business days. Since this is an integrated process any unauthorized installation can void your warranty.
