Panasonic abandoned support for the SX2 even while it is still being sold at full retail. That means there are no drivers for Windows 10 posted from Panasonic. But Panasonic dealers offer the SX2. Some even show the "free Windows 10" logo.
I'm wondering if anyone has actually upgraded their Windows 7 SX2 to Windows 10, and what you could say about the process.

That's Microsoft doing and nothing to do with Panasonic. You would be nuts to upgrade to W10 now...way to may bugs in it. -

 I understand that you might not like Windows 10. Nonetheless, it is an evolving OS and has significant improvements to security that do not, and will not, come to Windows 7.
I am still hoping to hear from someone who has made the switch and, if it was necessary, found the correct drivers for the upgrade.
Sorry, but I disagree with you that it has nothing to do with Panasonic. Virtually every PC manufacturer is supporting the upgrade with info and drivers. Even Panasonic is doing this, just not for the W2. At the same time, it did nothing to stop its resellers who continued selling the W2 at full price while using the "free Windows 10 upgrade" logo. -

First I want you to know I did install Windows 10 on my CF-53 back in March and then again when they released the full version. W10 did load all the drivers with no errors/missing drivers. Did it work, yes it did but I want control of my own system. M$ has no right to tell me what drivers I need . This auto update is bull crap and them looking in my private files, my emails and my passwords to name a few things is just not right. That's my problem...even 2 large PC makers are telling there customers if you call for support for W10 and it came with W7 or W8 to please go back to them even if you got the W10 drivers from them. Read all about it....just do a Google search and see. -

I'm sure there are no problems with Win10 on SX2. SX2 is even newer than my CF-19 MK5.
One problem I had with Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework driver. Intel always has many bugs in their software, and it's almost impossible to uninstall this driver (and you have to uninstall). Last time I helped my friend with Win7-Win10 upgrade it was faster and easier to delete partition, install clean Win7 and upgrade to Win10 immediately
)

And with latest Win10 update (Threshold 2) you can install clean Win10 and activate it with Win7 product key. I recommend this way.
Threshold 2 finally makes it possible to activate a copy of Windows 10 with a Windows 7 or 8.1 key, which makes the upgrade process easier, especially for IT admins that need to perform this process on tens or hundreds of computers.
Previously, in order to fully activate a copy of Windows 10, users of Windows 7 or 8.1 first had to perform a direct upgrade to the new OS, allow it to be validated by Microsoft and only then do a clean install and start from scratch.
But starting with Threshold 2, doing a clean install is much easier because if you already own a Windows 7 or 8.1 product key, and you want to upgrade, you can simply deploy Windows 10 and then use your license to activate the new copy of the OS. Threshold 2 supports activation with product keys for older Windows versions, and according to a discussion on Reddit, everything works really smoothly.
Win10 still has all standard Windows system tools to tune anything. So it's a question of time (~10 minutes) to set/disable automatic updates, block whatever you want etc. My laptop never restarts without my confirmation. -

 Thank you. That is a very good question and suggestion. In fact, it is only 10 months old. That is before the official release date of Windows 10, but much later than Windows 10 was provided to manufacturers.
Also thanks to the other commenters. Assuming Panasonic says I am not going to void my warranty, I think I can try doing the upgrade. I have two separate full disk image backups. One is with Windows 7 Backup, the other with Macrium Reflect. I should be able to roll back to Windows 7 with at least one of them if necessary.
The last time I did a full restore was on my W8 Toughbook upgraded to Windows 7. That was when the hard drive failed. I used Norton Ghost and it worked perfectly. For some reason, Ghost will not install on the SX2. Maybe it's because I have an SSD drive. -

 How did you uninstall and reinstall these drivers?
 -

I don't remember how it was done on my own laptop
) Maybe I was in the "heat of passion" (affect state, right?)

)

But 2 weeks ago I've just made a clean install (another laptop) of Win7, activated it, upgraded to Win10 immediately after installation of Win7 and necessary updates. But now you don't need this way. Just make clean install of Win10 and activate it by Win7 key.
Ok, try to upgrade at first, but it's easier to reformat

"One is with Windows 7 Backup, the other with Macrium Reflect. I should be able to roll back to Windows 7 ..."
i have rescued a couple more *upgraded* machines since i helped to remotely fix a friend's machine that was taken to another state ... ergo , i helped the tech that she handed the machine to .
the machine choked and puked after an "in place" upgrade ... the activation keys for W7 and MSO failed after the (re) installation of W7 .
as i recall , the first attempt was made using the *windows roll back* ... it failed and warranted a full clean install and that is when the trouble with the two aforementioned keys happened .
i suggest hedging the bet and try using "macrium reflect" first off .
then there is that bit about getting rid of the windows "spyware" .

Why I ask about the warranty is three manufacturers have reported machines locking up, non booting and screens burning up because of bad drivers. I have not heard of any problems on Panasonic laptops that were upgraded to W10 so far but to be safe I would check with them first. If they say OK then go for it. You have 30 day to try it. -

I just went ahead last night with upgrading to Windows 10. It went without a hitch. So far, I can't find anything that isn't working correctly. That includes wifi, bluetooth, printers, DVD player.
One thing I have not yet tested is the region-killing software I use for viewing DVDs I have purchased outside region 1. -

I will be surprised if Microsquash doesn't give you a hard time for the region software.
 -

 Why do you still use DVDs? They mean low definition video

I don't think you will have a problem as long as you bought them legally and you didn't download them from a torrent site. Beware if you download any software from a torrent site because they can and will report you. When you clicked ok to install W10 you gave them that right. Please read the "license terms and conditions". I know who reads it....right. It would only take you a week to read it
