I was thinking about getting one perhaps the 160gb model but I wasnt sure how much of a difference I would get compared to the one that came stock on my CF-29. Also i am not sure if the CF-29 was setup to take a SATA drive?
Any feedback would be great,. Also if someone has a Power port cover for a CF-29 for Sale I Could really use one as my Laptop is missing it.

Not so new.... I reviewed it against ssds late last year. Its sitting next to my system here...
Click on my 'New SSD Thread' link below and you will find several benchmarks. They are healthy but don't draw any real comparison to the ssds as they are in a totally different world to the hd. -
Unfortunately the CF-29 isn't SATA, so you're stuck with old ATA-6 drives.
-
you might want to check this site for hdd comparison.
http://www23.tomshardware.com/storage25.html
you can select different hdd´s and see how they compare.i guess thats what you are searching for. -
Actually I just want to make sure it works in my CF-29 first then compare. lol
Whats the Fastest HD for the CF-29 that is 7200rpm?
Thanks -
-
If it's anything like the 28, I doubt it. Those caddys are a tight fit.
-
Modly are you correct? Because Toughbook in the 7200RPM forum seemed to indicate that the SATA Drives work in the CF-29? So of the referenced Drives were SATA 150's?
-
cf-29 are not a sata drive. they are ata-6. there also is no room for a sata adapter in the caddy either.
-
then is there a 7200rpm drive that will work with the cf-29?
-
Its hard to find a 7200 ATA-6 any suggestions where I can get a NEW one?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822146229
That's the only drive in stock at NewEgg right now. The Hitachi drives are made of unobtainium at the moment.
Edit; My bad... they are out of stock on that one too.
Weird. -
Yes I noticed that too in my search hence why I said its hard. lol
I noticed there are some ATA-100 HD for laptops but they wont work either correct, only the ATA-6? Any help on where to get a new one would be great as I CANT seem to find any on Ebay etc. -
i give up, i'm going to travelstar 5400. thats whats in the rest of my laptops anyways.======day late and a dollar short as usual for me!
-
Unfortunately when my supply of 7200, 100gb drives run out I'll probably end up having to buy the 5400rpm drives too. I hate to do that because I really like the speed of the 7200rpm. I still can't believe that Hitachi stopped making them.
-
lol I'll wait if I have to now rush and its not that hard replacing a HD. I make my own Image disks anyway which require me to remove the drive. I Already have a 5400rpm new drive so I'll just leave the one that came with my Laptop in it, and then upgrade to something worth it like a 7200RPM. After all May isnt that Far away.
