Ok so we have another CF-18, this one got caught in the rain, it seems to work fine but there is a small amount of moisture between the plastic and the glass layers of the LCD, will that just dry out? Or do I have to attempt to remove the layers?

well even if it does dry out you'll have watermarks on the screen and touchscreen. If you have experience taking apart screen assemblies I would say to give it shot and clean it with the screen wipes and let it dry out very very well

I agree. You will want to get it nice and dry and clean. Either by yourself, or someone experienced with that. It has to be done in a clean environment, no dust. Some have used their bathroom with a hot shower running as the steam will catch any dust in the air. If you don't, then when you button it all up, you could have dust/dirt trapped in between the layer which could do more damage than water spots. There is a good write-up on this forum probably about 4-5 months ago dealing with this very topic. Try to search for it (title had something to do with replacing an LCD) or something like that. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

    Thanx for the reply!

Pulled the LCD out and laid the unit in the sun for a few hours and then blasted it with a hairdryer for about 30 min.

it vaporized the larger bits of it, and the smaller ones are gone.

The touchscreen works like a champ now.

Well... You scared me off when you said "hair dryer for 30 minutes" after "laying out in the sun for a few hours." You should have been able to wipe off the moisture, blow off the dust and reinstall. If there are any prints or marks... You can use packing tape to take it off. This works especially well for finger prints on the LCD surface.

No.... the moisture was between the touchscreen membrane and the glass.
    Good times....
