OK after attempting to try different drivers to get full functionality from my TB-19 running Win 7 (and getting very close) my sound stopped operating and more importantly my BIOS requested a password! I have NEVER and would NEVER use a BIOS password and yet all of a sudden it is requesting it?
Has anyone any idea how to reset it, perhaps removing the BIOS battery, if so how?
You can read all about my various other toil and troubles from day one of ownership on the following link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/622087-got-one.html
It reads like war and peace, I need to concentrate on the BIOS issue at the moment hence a separate thread.
Many thanks in advance

@Tranquillo,
This is a Taboo subject....the threads get closed - ello.
Check the Forum Rules.

EDIT: I've just checked the rules myself, apparently, Foul Language isn't necessary when discussing notebooks & helping people....there's just NO fun in life anymore. -

Not wanting to tread on anybody's toe's but:
This TB is MINE, I paid for it and I can do what I want to it has to be a valid answer right?
If I purchase a TV I do not expect to be told I cannot watch certain channels ect right? If I wanted to upgrade to a GPS unit ect I would need to update the BIOS and hence would need access, are we saying I am not allowed to modify my own property?
This is an elderly machine, I have posted the BIOS openly on NBR, I have purchased from a recognised source revealing my name/address/credit card so this would suggest that I am not involved in any covert terrorist activity ect.
I am not asking to infringe any copyright, I simply want to access the BIOS, I had access when I purchased it and somehow the BIOS password has been activated? If the password is so critical then how can it be changed so easily and without any warning? I am the only user of this machine, it has to be something I done to the machine so I accept the responsibility but do not accept that someone can control what I can and cannot do with something which is my property.

OK rant over and thanks for 'listening', if and I MEAN 'if' I happen to get a PM with the answer to this puzzle I am sure I can forget who sent it ...right?

Dude!
What you are doing isn't wrong man! Not in the least bit! No one is arguing that! However, we have to play by the forum rules! These retarded forums somehow think that this is ILLEGAL (even though it ISN'T AT ALL IN THE LEAST BIT!). Thats all!
I would encourage you to post this over at Toughbooktalk.com when it will still get cared too and you won't get in trouble for it! -
and again about sound:
1) install hotkey appendix application
2) unmute by Fn+F4
3) uninstall ha application
There is nothing interesting in Panasonic BIOS, so you don't loose anything with that password -
Actually, we shut down conversations about bypassing security because 90% of the time its a newbie asking to get around a BIOS password from a laptop they recently stole. You wouldn't believe how many newbies I've banned because their "friend's" laptop recently acquired from "Craigslist" has a BIOS and Windows password preventing them from using the computer. Allowing this sort of discussion at all on NBR, even for the right reasons, is just going to invite the wrong people to our forum and we don't want that.

As far as being a "company representative", I never signed up/asked for that guy! I don't want to be a "company representative", I never did and I never will! I don't sell anything on here any more anyways because of how restrictive these forums have become with EVERYTHING! (And don't even give me anything about that, because, YES, I KNOW you have those rules, because of the retarded kids selling garbage junk in mommy and daddy's basement!), of which, I am not one of those either! You can make me just a normal guy around here like everyone else, and I'd be FINE with that, but NO, I asked you all politely to do that too and you failed to oblige! -
@Tranquillo - best bet is to contact Panasonic. They may have a tool to reset the password.
@ Rob. There is a decent mix of teenagers as well as adults in the other sections of the forum. Have a look at the birth dates. Many of whom are quite cordial and exceptionally knowledgeable and mature, be they teen or middle aged adults. This section isn't special or better than any other. We simply give you a bit more leeway for reasons that can't be openly discussed.
If you no longer wish to be labelled a company representative, you should contact Charles P Jefferies or the Admin Chris Leonard to handle that issue. -
I've already contacted them though Alex back 1 year ago and they never changed me back... I'm not wasting my damn time!
@Tranquillo - best bet is to contact Panasonic. They may have a tool to reset the password. - That won't get you anywhere, but nice shot in the dark -
BTW, if you have an answer to his question, you can simply PM it to him. There's no prohibition against doing that. After all, we can't see what is done privately. Neither do we care unless an issue arises privately that a poster wants us to address.
Such an easy way to get around the rule that it is odd that anyone would have a problem with it. Did you consider why the rule might exist before lambasting it? That there's a possibility that the site owners could be held liable for promoting or fostering potentially illegal activities. Just a thought. -
We're done arguing about this man.
I am formally asking you to please do whatever you can in your power to remove the stupid "company representative" from my profile. Additionally, I like the idea that everyone else can change what theirs says and I can't.
Thanks -
In any event, consider your request to have the "company representative" tag removed accepted. As soon as this is posted, I'll contact those with the power to remove it. -
Okay thanks.
Any the whole "That there's a possibility that the site owners could be held liable for promoting or fostering potentially illegal activities."
I know this dude! I am a site owner, and I still let this happen because I KNOW that there is nothing illegal about it.
But, I digress, and I do understand as NBR is WAY bigger than my site, the need to put these rules in place now.
Thanks -
Oh that. Oh okay, yeah. You know how everyone is worried about lawsuits these days. We live in such a litigious society.
And your user tag issue has been fixed. -
Any reason why I can't PM? It's not even there...
Thanks -
My PM system is back, but I used to have 1000 PM's allowed (this was before I was switched to a company representative), which I was forced back to 200, and then I finally was able to do 1000. Now I'm back to 200 again.
Can this please be fixed?
Thanks! -

Resellers/company reps have bigger PM mailboxes, now that you are a regular user, you'd have to lobby for an increase across the board.

It's back to what I had BEFORE I was a company rep, Thanks 2.0!!!
AllurGoceries... Cool username btw! haha

WHOA GUYS WHOA!
I'm sorry if I have opened or even stirred a can of worms but this cannot be the way to resolve what is (or should be) a simple issue. One or two 'others' have come to my aid but have not yet been sucessfull, I am sure there will be other suggestions, Rob I have been told you own a forum and I am unsure if I ever signed up to it? I will try to get some more time in front of the old PC that still works and have a try around the net, I will also look in on TBT.
Mods/Rob an all, let it go guys kiss and make up..................well er....do whatever floats your boat.
Perhaps my quest for the 'perfect' TB is something that is not possible and I am simply banging my head on a wall?
I will keep on trying for awhile longer and see what occurs

Awww, man... I missed all the fireworks. *POUTS*

And this was looking to get messy... I could feel the static in the air when 2.0™ got his hackles up... (Well played there 2.0™, BTW... wait - is that brimstone I smell?)Hee-Heee!

I don't feel like ripping someones tonsels out now... Relaxation at the lakehouse helps

Rob.... We come here to play... Let's keep it playing!
I am not usually a "rules" guy but abide buy the ones here happily. There is a reason for everything.
I belong to several forums... Here, ToughbookTalk and several automotive forums. I'd liken NBR as my "Daily Driver" and ToughbookTalk as my "Weekend Classic Car"... The daily driver will get you there and is necessary... But the weekend classic gives you the fix you need that you can't get anywhere else!
They are both necessary and fun. -

Well back on with the '19'! I had been going around in circles trying to get in to the BIOS and still to this day DO NOT remember putting any password in it. I have tried the few passwwords I have, I do not have much to hide hence there are not that many anyway! The sound problem (i.e. no sound) continued to plague me and despite reloading WIN7 over and over and trying all the drivers in different sequences including the previous fix which worked perfect, I still had no sound, by chance I tried a third party hard drive formating software, reloaded windows using a sequence I had used before and lo and behold the sound returned, is it possible that using the WIN 7format option does not clear the drivers previously used?
Either way the TB is back and working great, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. I sent an email to Panasonic customer support explaining the problem and gave then the company details I purchased it from, my address/phone number/passport number......blood group you name it and I did not even get a reply!!
Thanks to all who have contributed thus far.

Tranquillo....I'm stating the obvious....send Panasonic your Toughbook AND your bank account details....that should sort it.

Why would you want to come here? It is so hot even the swimming pool is at 30 degrees C! Thanks for the idea of sending Panasonic bank details though, it does appear that Panasonic do not reply to emails that do not offer the chance of making the sender part with a grand or two!

hehe, my inlaws went voluntarily to Spain. And it's hot there indeed! they had a nice barbeque eeeehm, forest fire..
They call it holiday, but I do prefer my holidays a little bit cooler.
Now we are off topic, how's life there? We hear all kinds of odd stuff about extreme measures to save money and get the governement expenses down. -
Ive just been for 10 days, got back friday before last, its was superb, whet to Javea, alicante, apartment on the sea front, walked to the beach everyday (that took 2 mins) 2-3 hours on the beach (looking, eye's popping) then back to the apartment, couple of hours sleep, out, eat then a few cold beers till early hours
-
Darn, sounds like the good life, sun, walk, swim, sleep, eat, drink, walk and sleep some more.
What am I doing wrong? No holiday for me this year, then again, we are looking to buy a house that's a bit bigger than our current house. And that's a big thing to be able to do in these times!
