Hi, first post here. Great site. I have searched around, and I realize there is no plug and play backlit keyboard available for the CF-73. Looking at a few CF-28 laying around the office, it seems that the keyboards on the CF-73 and the 28 are the same physical size.
I am wondering if it would be possible to somehow hack a CF-28 keyboard into my CF-73. Anyone have any input on this is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I have heard of this, but have not seen anything yet? Have you
heard how to do this yet?
Thanks,
John -

I'll have to wait until tomorrow before I can check. I've never touched the 70 series.

I've never seen a 70 series in person, nor have I wanted one. They aren't tough enough
I would consider a 50 series just because they are more powerful laptops and have a larger screen though. -
I have put a 70 series keyboard on a model 27 and it worked just fine. I think they fit but not sure about the backlit issue.

I understand that the keypad of the cf-51 which is backlit can be
placed in the 73? -
Is there any site on the Web, that has information on GPS mods for the
cf-73? -
As far as i know The cf-73 series has no expansion slot like the cf-18,cf-m34,cf-72, cf-27,cf-28,and cf-29 correct me if i am wrong. The only slot for expansion is the mini pci slot which is ocupied by wi-fi but you can still mod.. if you want to install gps by treminating one usb or install 2 port usb hub for your gps.It will be done if you know what you are doin.
For backlit keyboard, yes! you can install rubber backlit with the one with two cable ribbon only. -
Do you happen to know what part number for the rubber keyboard to
use? that has the back lit capability? -
Modly,
Dont discount the 72 - still has a handle and gel around the HD - just no port covers but does give you 2 USB. Makes a great lighter option and still can take a hit. I hooked my son up with one. I have not got to the keyboard yet but I had seen ohlip state that the keyboards would work off a 28. You can pick up PIII pretty cheap - I just got one of ebay for $260 had XP and a 30g HD - very nice but not as cool as my 28 I agree -
Backlit keyboard possible on CF-73
