Has anybody ever used this guy for 27's?
eBay My World - mattderry2002
I had ordered one a month ago but he claimed it wasn't stocked even though ebay claimed there are more than 10 available.
My mate ordered one two weeks ago, I called him on friday and he claimed to be picking up a consignment, but it's been cancelled today even though ebay claimed there are more than 10 available.
Yesterday I ordered one and ebay claimed there are more than 10 available. No cancellation as of yet.
I really badly want another CF-27 and his seemed a reasonable price. A month later, no toughbooks.
Is he taking the mickey, or is this just a string of random events with a strangely random connection?

If you paid via Paypal, you can file a claim for merchandise not received. Amazing how that can get things moving. Paypal has a limit as to how long after purchase you can file a claim. I forget what it is, 45 days comes to mind.
I personally would not wait any longer. 30 days is long enough if he is in the same country as you are. He is located in the United Kingdom.
I don't like the idea that he has to pick up a consignment of toughbooks to meet sales he already made. I believe sellers should only sell what they have on hand. A consignment? He may be a 3rd party seller. In which case I wonder if he has a clue about what he is selling. The fleabay "sell it for you" shops never seem to know what they have or the actual condition. The ad states manufacturer refurbished. Which manufacturer? Panasonic?
I say start a Paypal claim and see what falls out of that tree when you shake it. -
Yeah... He is using YOUR cash (And most likely others) to fund what he needs. I would file a claim.... Someone else can get you CF-27...
Ebay has really shrank back from going after the bad guys. They are allowing some to openly flaunt the rules... And also to break them because if they ban them.... ebay loses money. I remember the days when you didn't have to worry too much about being ripped off... Now 9 out of 10 you WILL if YOU don't pay attention.
Looking at this guys feedback... It looks like his roughest patch is actually shipping time. File a claim and light a fire... -
Just had a chat to him on the phone, it was supplier issues and he can't afford to supply the toughbooks at £55 anymore. He's offering a complete refund.
Oh well.. Guess I'll be stuck with a keyboardless cf27 and no friend for him for another few weeks until I find another good deal. -
If all you need is a keyboard I am sure that one of our members in the UK can help you out. Anyone?
-
Have a look here - cheaper than what you were looking at before and you won't have any problems with the seller. If it is just a keyboard you need. let me know. I can probably help you out.
Panasonic Toughbook CF-27 Mk2 64mb12.1 TFT No HDD & PSU on eBay (end time 15-Jul-10 14:49:07 BST) -
Thanks for the link, but I'm after a complete system with PSU etc and at least 128mb ram, so I'm probably going to to for a toughbook from Icex. (They appear to have custom paint job lids too, I want the yellow one!)
Also thanks for the offer of a keyboard, but I think I should be ok now, just got to get royal mail to let me have it now. Wasn't my fault the postman didn't knock on the door because it wouldn't fit through the letterbox! -

Google got me this

WHo would buy a CF-27 now days when CF-29s are so cheap? Plus who would want Pink! lol
I guess next Flowers will be stickied on the covers. One guy on Ebay was selling one a while back that was painted with a spray can, I know this because the reply on his feedback said so. lol -

Flower Power Baby! The 60's live on. Groovy!

cant afford $100 for a cf-29?
-
I just did the $75.00 CF-29 thing. In the end, it's not as cheap as it seems.
Add a dvd drive $55.00.
Add a HDD caddy with 40gb drive $75.00.
I got lucky and my 29 is coming with a battery, most don't.
That $75.00 CF 29 is at $210.00. I still think I am going to end up with a good price for the whole package. It looks really clean. No WWAN, GPS or Bluetooth, but I can add later if I want. It does have a touchscreen.
OP is in the UK. Shipping and availability is a bit different there, I imagine. -
CF-27 batteries are hard to get OEM ones are too old. Lithiums only last so long before they dont hold a charge. Plus the SPEED is horrible.
You can get a CF-29 for about $125 on Ebay with HD 512MB ram and 1.2ghz with a floppy. Though I never use one.
you are right on the DVD, but then again you have to buy one for the CF-27?
Its the performance you get with it that is better, heck even a cf-28 is better than buying CF-27s now. -
I agree about the oem batteries being old. My CF 50 is getting to be in the same situation. The 27 he posted a link to comes with 2 batteries and a dvd installed. no OS though. Most of the Fleabay 29's come with a COA at least.
Once you factor in the cost of WinXP, I think that particular 27 is priced high.
If the OP is set on a 27, I feel he could get a better deal elsewhere. The might want to directly ask the private fleabay sellers to ship to UK. I saw them selling ready to go 27's for $105.00 US. That's way less than the 99 pounds UK currency. Shipping can't be bad for a 6 lb laptop.
I think a 27 is slow also, but to each his own. I went for the 29 for the reasons you stated, but then again I was willing to buy the parts from different vendors and put it together myself. Some people don't like to tinker with hardware and they want a warranty. That's why Tigerdirect gets 329.00 plus shipping for their CF-29's I guess. -
really wish.
A CF-28 over here costs from £200 upwards, that is about $307+
Another reason for me to go to America, I suppose. -
Bad story about an ebay user.
