The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Anyone else been discovered to be a spammer?
    CAP the Spammer

EDIT: The spam bot seems to have reconsidered and approved my post. Maybe they had to run it by the NSA and Booz Allen.

Yes it even nailed me back 3 weeks ago. NBR added this back on April 8 and it still has a few bugs to work out. It is working very good because since April only 7 spammers have posted new threads here...I have deleted that many in one week before :mad2:

Do not feel bad Capt. at the beginning it even called me a Spammer. it seems to be learning fast and is certainly keeping our workload down so we can annoy the users more than chasing down all the nitwits cluttering up all the threads.

I know that the guys behind the scenes are updating a bunch of the filters regularly so please be paitent, and if a post does not come up just tell the local moderators here or PM me and I will see if I can have Charles or one of the SuperMods clear it for you as soon as they can

You can also give us a heads up here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/site-suggestions-help-announcements/716582-delayed-posting.html if it's taking too long for a post to be approved, we check regularly, but not as often as when spam-o-matic was first enabled. Back then, we had to approve dozens of posts per hour, not the number of posts needing approval has gone down significantly, but it's still doing some random things like flagging links to NBR as spam once or twice...

toughasnails is right about there being less spam, the admins have confirmed to us that they are still working on refining how spam-o-matic flags posts too.
