First of all..new to the forum so HELLO to all! I feel like my (new to me) CF-29 is going to quickly turn into a new hobby after reading through the posts here.

I need to replace my factory HD. I've used newegg and pricewatch over the years for misc parts which I see are still popular among all on here. What are some good HD's people are getting for replacements in the CF-29 or other units?

    Thanks!

I am using a 7200rpm 100gig drive and works great. It is a hitachi travelstar. These drives are hard to find now and usually cost an arm and a leg.

The 7200rpm drive really is not needed but is a plus just cause.

Seems alot of people on here are using them. But a 5400rpm drive is just fine for speed and is much cheaper usually. You can also get a bigger gb drive if you go 5400rpm.

If you want the fastest then go for a 7200rpm drive but for more Gb's then just get a 5400rpm drive.

Anything around 200gb is more than I'll use since I have an external back up drive and try not to keep alot of junk on my computer. I was just wondering if everyone is staying mostly with Hitachi or if WD and Seagate 7200rpm drives are good to use in the Toughbook? Just trying to pair up a good hard drive with this specific laptop..wasn't sure if it was picky.

Alot of people use the Hitachi but other drives seem to work as long as it and IDE interface not SATA.

    The SAMSUNG 160GB 2.5" 5400RPM HM160HC
Has been my personal favourite, since the 7200 rpm Hitachi ide drives are not available now.
These drives do have very good performance over the stock cf-29 drives.
