Hello all,
I've searched the forum, but don't see anything past 2010 on the subject. Anyway, I want to clone my 250gb Samsung in my cf-29 onto a 500 GB WD drive (I'm going from PATA to SATA via TechTuff adapter.) I've had no problems going from 250 to 250, of course, but EaseUS won't let me go from 250 to 500, as you know. What's the latest, best, and least expensive way to do that? Will I need to by Acronis TI?
Thanks very much.

Partition the 500 as a 250. clone the drive, then use Easeus to resize the drive to 500gb.

1) I check "primary partition" (not extended)
2) But do I assign a drive letter?
Thanks for your help. -
I use HD Clone, which has an option to re-size the partition when it gets cloned.

primary partition ..yes
drive letter..no do not assign -
There is no end, however, to what one may not know. What was it Rumsfeld said? There are known unknowns, but then there are unknown unknowns. I now have a known unknown, I think. To wit: EaseUS Todo Backup tells me that the source disk and destination disk have different sector sizes, so it's a no go. But there may be a way to get around that using disk image onto a third, outboard backup source, then restoring onto new disk. We'll see . . . -
May I suggest giving Clonezilla a shot...it's extremely easy to use...
Good luck. -
Cloning partition with aomei backupper please
-
Aomei backupper and partition assistant are great, so thanks for the tip.
The specific problem I"m having is that my destination disk is in "advanced format" with 4096 bytes per sector as opposed to 512, which is what my source disk is in. Didn't know there was such a thing as "advanced format." Anyway, from the web it looks like that's a major PITA, if it's even possible. So a clean install is in my future.
Best way to clone from 250Gb drive to 500gb drive?
