I have a blue tab 6.6ah battery and after a refresh i get about 3-3.5 hours out of it with light use. Using IE etc.

Now is the 7.8ah yellow tab battery that much better.

I am looking at getting a yellow tab 7.8ah battery to extend my battery life but am not sure if it is worth the money to upgrade. I was also looking at the media battery but do not want more stuff to carry with me and have to deal with switch between DVD/RW drive and battery all the time.

For those users that have the yellow tab batteries what are your average run times?

Better yet if anyone here has had a blue tabbed battery and upgraded to a yellow tab did you notice a big difference?

It really depends on the age of the battery. If both are new... Then yes... The yellow tabbed is definitely worth the money. But I've had blue tabed outlast both the yellow and green tabbed batteries. So there is really no way of knowing unless you try them out.

Personally... I'd go with the media bay battery. It added 2.5 hours to the 4 hours I was getting in my 29. If I watched the screen brightness, turned off bluetooth when not in use, etc... I could stretch the battery life out to 8-9 hours in my old 29.

    Just my too scents...

Well my battery is used and I would get a brand new 7.8ah if i was to get one so I guess it would be worth the money. I just noticed that most people seem to get around 3-5 hours on a blue tab and did not know if the yellow tab would get me a reasonable amount more of time for the price. I still am looking at the media bay battery but have not decided yet. If i was to get both then i guess that would be the best but this stuff gets expensive.

I just got my cf-29 a few days ago and upgraded a few things as soon as i opened the box. I would have loved to get one of your ultimate toughbooks they are so nice. But I like upgrading things myself i guess. I mostly do desktop builds but have always wanted a toughbook. We use itronix gobook's at my work and they are such a pile of crap. Well we beat them up pretty good too and they are getting really old.

So far I am in love with my toughbook. I cant wait to do some more hacks soon. I think next might be the gps but I am not sure yet.

Thanks again Toughbook for the help with the dvd/rw swap that went real smooth and now it is working great.

I am going to be swapping out my wireless card in the next few days. I know I have to pull the bottom of the toughbook off to get too it. When you remove the bottom do you use new thermal pads on the heat sink down there? if so what do you use. I was thinking about using some AS ceramic or AS5 but i don't know if that will be thick enough and I don't wanna make a mess.

I'd go with the yellow tab if at all possible... those batteries not only hold more juice but are also better built and in my experiance last longer, take more charges and are just more forgiving batteries for heat and cold and whatnot.

    Good luck!

Ya I have been watching a few batteries on ebay and they seem to sell for over $100 most of the time so this brand new OEM battery for $90 bucks shipped was a pretty good deal.

This is my first time dealing with horizon so hopefully all goes well. I noticed that they want a little more for there cf-29's than most people and most of them only come with a floppy so when I saw the batteries for $79 i was a little surprised.

There is not really a big market for cf-29 stuff on ebay you get some stuff here and there but never that much.

Horizon takes offers on a lot of their stuff. Just look into their feedback and see what offer they have taken for the stuff they have sold. I bought a CF-29, 13.Ghz missing a PCMCIA door for $600 plus shipping. Not a bad price. But I just scored the last 5 CF-29s from one of my suppliers. After that the price will be going up and I'll be forced to buy off ebay again.

I got my cf-29 with a cdrw/dvd drive installed for $521. it was missing the power and usb covers that he did not tell me about but it was still a good deal. It is in pretty good shape other than those missing covers a couple scratches here and there but nothing major but then again this is a toughbook what are they without a few scratches.

Zippy.. Did you make an offer to Horizon for that amount? Or was it just a lucky deal on fleabay? What an excellent price! Even with the missing stuff!

About 7 or more ended around that amount. One guy bought most of them but I luckly snagged at least one of them. Some ended around $400 bucks. The way he listed them is why they sold so low the title read the whole model number not just cf-29 so when you searched cf-29 they did not come up. You had to search just toughbook and look through all of the listings. I wanted to buy more of them cuz they were so cheap but I dont have the money to just blow on multiple toughbooks lol.

I knew I got a good deal even if those two covers are missing.

No I didn't get them from horizon I got it from: intechraparts-columbus-oh He had probably 10 or so listed some were the mk2 1.3ghz models.

The guy that bought almost all of them was hard to outbid. He would always get me in the last 4 seconds of the auction. The one I got he didnt bid on so I got lucky.
