So I have a 31 mk1 with a fresh win 7 install that shows a "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" installed and I can actually add bluetooth devices to in the "devices and printers" section (phones, headsets, etc) just fine. Now I have a 31 mk4 with what I believe to be the toshiba bluetooth stack installed under the WWAN card but cannot for the life of me get any bluetooth devices installed in the devices and printers section of the mk4 like I can with the mk1. Is there another bluetooth card in this mk1 that I am not seeing?

The mk1 has a separate bluetooth card and antenna.
The bluetooth in the mk4 is incorporated into the WLAN card.
It may just be a case of downloading the correct driver. -
TheSpiritOfRadio Notebook Consultant
Do I have to uninstall the bluetooth board and try to run the driver for the generic again? -
Could be a problem with the two bluetooth systems. The one integrated into the intel wifi card and the one you took from the mk1.
Can you disable one of them in device manager? -

After uninstalling the toshiba software, plugging the device back in and restarting, it appears that windows has installed a device called "Bluetooth USB" - "BlueSoleil Generic Bluetooth Driver" on the mk4 with the device ID of "USB\VID_044E&PID_3001&REV_5276" Still yields no results in the Devices and Printers area.Last edited: Mar 11, 2018 -
What model is the wlan(wifi) card that you are using?
-
TheSpiritOfRadio Notebook Consultant
So even though i took the wifi card with me, the mk1 still has bluetooth that i can use and the mk4 still doesn't work. there's no way its the wifi card. -
ok so this is the details
cf31 mk 1 ---- wifi and bluetooth will work
cf 31 mk 4 --- wifi and bluetooth from mk 1---wifi works and bluetooth does not.
Yes it IS the wifi card.
the mk 4 looks for bluetooth at the address from the wifi card, because normally that's where bluetooth is.
the mk 1 bluetooth card is at a different address.
Also--not all wifi cards work properly in cf 31's. They do have some sort of whitelist.
CF 31 mk3 and mk4 use a intel 6235 with bluetooth on the wifi card.
Otherwise it will not show up in BIOS and it can be tricky to get working.
I have used a variety of cards, but they never get bluetooth unless it is the original card for a mk4.
I have used in my mk3
intel 7200 series
intel 8200 series--yes that is a ngff card.
Various Broadcom and realtec
Currently I have a CB160 802.11ac with custom 3 antennas. It tx and rx at 1300mbps.
The only one that Bluetooth works on is the original intel 6235.
I have done this all once or twice before ...ha ha ha.
Slight possibility since the CF 31 mk4 is a CF31X that came without wifi/bluetooth is that those are permanently disabled in the BIOS.
I have been down that road also. That solution is to program a new BIOS chip and solder it on the motherboard. I have done that also.
This ain't my first rodeo.
SO---WHAT IS THE MODEL NUMBER OF THE WLAN CARD YOU ARE TRYING TO USE? -

with the 6235 installed, go to the bios and click the advanced tab.
What does it show?
Does it show WLAN--enabled
does it show bluetooth at all?
I can check my mk3 during lunch and report what it shows.
photos of your bios would help.
main page and advanced page
check your bios version.
Does it have an M in it follwed by a couple of numbers? Like in this photo.

Additional details. The other thing I tried is swapping the wifi cards. The 6235 in the mk4 and the 7260 in the mk1. The mk1 immediately worked with the 7260 and the mk4 still didn't work with the 6235. I have tried uninstalling all drivers remotely relating to Bluetooth. -
Sounds like you may have a custom BIOS..hmmm
Just to make sure,
The wifi DOES work with either card in the mk4? -
TheSpiritOfRadio Notebook Consultant
Yes -
ok
It is a standard bios.
Did the 6235 card come in the mk4 or did you get it somewhere else? -
TheSpiritOfRadio Notebook Consultant
-
Ok.
put the 6235 back into the mk4
delete all bluetooth stuff from.control panel--programs
install proper mk4 bluetooth driver package obtained from Panasonic only.

device manager photo of 50 hr CF 31 mk3 ..win7 32 bit...MC8355 wwan card ..Intel 6235
Installation of OS was done by using official recovery Panasonic DVD set
-

Come to think of it, the person who I just bought the Toughbook from sent me recovery discs as well. 1 and 2. How would I employ those properly in terms of what I am attempting to fix?
-
Verify in bios that the DVD will boot before the HDD.
put disk one into the dvd and reboot.
It will ask questions then
DELETE everything and reinstall the drive/os to factory new condition.
Then you will need to manually install the WWAN driver package after you download it from Panasonic, If you have a WWAN card.
AFTER the drive is restored using all original hardware and confirmed working, You can swap the 7260 back in..BUT
The 7260 ac will work nicely, but I never could get the Bluetooth to work on anything but the original 6235. I have seriously tried 6-10 different cards and spent days on this issue.
7260 will require a download from Intel
802.11ac is way more important than bluetooth for me. Personally, I find BT to be a PITA.
If you want both, I suggest a micro bluetooth usb stick.
I have gotten a micro usb BT to work using a miniPCIE to usb adapter in the WWAN slot.
Metal case means the range sucks.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 14, 2018 -

Thank you.

@ thespiritofradio
Are you in USA?
If so, I will send you are card to experiment with.
It's a Bluetooth only card. Mini PCIE fits in WWAN socket.

7260 really...
keep me posted. make sure you can enable bt and connect to it.
Maybe the mk4 will recognize the 7260 BT and the mk3 bios will not. -

Final update. I got the last 3 by going to the device properties - services of the device im trying to connect and checking everything and clicking OK and waiting for the devices to install then unpairing and repairing the device. No more yellows in device manager.
Oddly, still having trouble sending or receiving files between either of these devices... worked perfect on mk1....

interesting---and frustrating

I don't know anything about Windows 10 so I will comment.
Now that you have bluetooth set up:
Could it be a System File sharing issue?
For example: https://www.teamknowhow.com/kit-gui...5000/how-to-set-up-file-sharing-on-windows-10 -

No luck with?
Bluetooth file transfer?
What about other Bluetooth devices?
"Bluetooth Radios" vs "Bluetooth" in Device Manager.
