Ok all you Pirates.
Is this the same delicious drink that you are referring to?
Comic books and rubber bands
Climb into the tree top
Falling down and holding hands
Tricycles and Redpop
Pony rides and Sunday nights
Roller skates and snowball fights
Climbin' through the window
Remember when you were a kid?
Well, part of you still is
And that's why we make Faygo
Faygo remembers
Flying kites and funny shoes
Easter eggs with speckles
ABCs and counting by twos
Washing off the freckles
Kissing a hurt to make it stop
Startin' school in September
So many things you almost forgot
Tryin' to remember
Remember when you were a kid?
Well, part of you still is
And that's why we make Faygo
Faygo remembers
What the @#$% do we non-Detroiters add to this stuff to make us forget this silly song?![]()

Still not finding "Toughbook for Soldier" on Newegg wish lists. What am I doing wrong?
-
Maybe it wasn't set to public? I've tried looking too.
-
I noticed that too, but I also noticed that there are no lists newer than the 22nd...
-
Perhaps pending approval then?
-
Hmmmm... Single Barrel? Ahhh... I just go for Jack Black... The Old #7.
Anyway... I set the wish list up and set it to public... It no workee! I too noticed that the most recent list is from the 22nd... So... What next... I'll have to call them tomorrow I suppose.
Newegg got back to me on a discount. They said they don't have a "service" that handles that but they would be more than willing to give me a $15 discount on any order. I just need to email them back with the order #, a copy of the email they sent to me, the secret handshake and the password from the secret decoder ring.
I'll call them tomorrow and find out what the hay is going on.
As of now, if all else fails, I will have all the parts in stock by next Tuesday. I ordered 6 hard drives, 5 more DVD R/W, a bunch of RAM, more XP 3-packs and a bunch of little stuff.
Sorry for not being around... I've been swamped... Which is a good thing. I'll finally have some breathing room about the time the laptop from Linda gets here.
Glen... Did you sent out the mobo yet? (Just curious)
I was thinking about doing a custom paint job... Maybe the pixilated camo they run now. But I'm not sure how much time I'll have. I have all the mask, paint and everything else. I don't want to have to do the screen bezel though and I'm not sure how it would look from the side being half and half. What do you guys think? Or should I just try to find the nicest cover? Hopefully the one Linda has is in good shape and I can just swap them... But something keeps telling me custom paint... Maybe it's the Jack talking to me. Yeah... I picked some up...
One way or the other it will all get done. -
To help please go to newegg and look for "USMC Toughbook" in wish list
or try link.

Thanks for your help.
Jim -
I see the wishlist i click the items to add to cart but the shipping address is my address... what am i doing wrong?
-
You going to try out the Duracoat system? I listed an alternate source which has Durafil (filler) and Duraflex (flexing additive) under one of the threads. -
Not sure yet what I'll do. It depends on existing equipment.
Linda's laptop just got here but I don't have time to go through it right now as I am heading out the door.
Glad to see the wish list works... Sort of. -
I just took a look at Linda's laptop... It's actually in very good condition so swapping the parts will yield a very nice final product!
It has a 256 stck of RAM... But I think it is the wrong type for the 800/1Ghz models as it has the 8 ICs instead of the 4 ICs on each side. I'll test it and let you know.
Depending on what Glen's 1Ghz unit looks like... The sale oif what is left over may pay for the transformation... Or at least come close. -
I thought her's was the 600mhz? That's what she listed on her first post. I wish you the best with this project. Thanks for keeping us updated.
-
I had a 1ghz with that kind (old) of memory stick and it worked fine...might be the one I shipped you.
-
Linda's is a 600Mhz... I was just saying that the RAM looked like the kind that won't work in a Toughbook... But it does. When the 1Ghz gets here Monday I'll start on it immediately and let everyone know if the RAM works in it.
I'm getting psyched about this one especially! -
TB
Do we have a ship to address yet?
Jim -
You mean MY address?
-
Rick
If someone wants to help out and buy something from the wish list should we have the item shipped to you?
Dose Newegg have your address stored and we just need to give them your name?
Please let us know how to get you the parts without publishing you addy on the forum.
Jim -
-
I can post you Ricks address.....
.... his cell phone number....
... his gps coordinates....
..... his social security number.....
.... his drivers license number....
.... dob....
.....etc etc etc.....
you want it now? -
I got a rubber stamp made with rick's address
-
Omg Lmao!!!!
-
I used Google earth to zoom in on Rick’s house and saved it as my screen saver but didn’t know if he wanted me to share.
BTW: Rick you need to clean the gutters on the back of your house.
Jim -
Is that the one with him passed out on the lawn NEKID!!?? Man, Cadi, you are gross!!!
-
You guys crack me up... Yes.. Newegg knows me VERY well. Since I spend2k-3k a month with them.. They know me.
I thought the whole point of the public wishlist was that if someone bought and paid for one of the items that it would automatically come to me. Has anyone tried? Please let me know. If anyone wants my address I'll be more than happy to PM it to them... Or you can borrow Gravitar's rubber stamp. (He's not kidding by the way) He averages 5-6 packages a month to my house at least! He can no longer sit straight up in a chair as his wallet throws him over to the side from all my cash I have sent him for parts!
Just let me know what you guys want to do... -
Doobi, sounds like you got the same screen saver.
I always thought that was a pile of empty Jack bottles. -
Zoom in UNDER the pile of jack bottles, but don't look long, it will burn your retinas!!!
-
I tried the newegg wishlist thing and all I could do is put the stuff in my personal "cart". If I'm screwing something up; let me know how to do it correctly. -
Jim -
Whatever portion of it I can get my hands on goes right back out into toughbooks anyway!
BTW rick, need any HD caddies or port covers? I've got lots of both again -
I PM'd Toughbook today and this project is still underway. I'm ordering the hard drive tomorrow. There will still be two items on the wish list, when someone else wants to Cowboy up.
Semper Fi -
I have several hard drives so I won't wait for Pappy to send it. When it comes in... It will just go back into my stock to replace the one that I used. The same goes for the DVD & RAM... By Monday night I will have everything I need (Except the screen) to finish the laptop. Then it is just a matter of time to put it all together. I am still looking for a 13" touchscreen. The only ones I have are ones that are flawless (For resale units) and scratched ones (Ones I won't sell on ebay.) I either need someone to donate a screen or I'll have to use one of the scratched ones for this project. The flawless ones are just too rare for me to get rid of now. When it gets closer we'll see what ew have and I'll let everyone know. By the way... The LCD and cover is not the problem... It is the touchscreen layer itself. I have plenty of LCDs. So... don't be shy... Speak out if you have one. In the meantime I'll continue to look on ebay for it.
-
OK TB, I got the hard drive ordered from Newegg. Much to my surprise; I was able to use you address for the ship to address. It should come directly to you.
I will PM you with the tracking number when I get it from newegg.
S/F -
Great Pappy... Thanks! I am still waiting for the 1Ghz case halves to get there so I can start. I have already converted the CD to DVD but that is about all I can do until I get the rest of the stuff.
Still looking for a 13" screen....
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? -
They said it was supposed to get there *by* Monday...thats par for the course though for the USPS...I normally dont use them, but, thought ok, lets try them again....Yet again, I should have listened to myself in the first place....
-
Did you send it via Priority? Or regular parcel post? If by Parcel Post it could take a while. Mail came today with no laptop.
-
Parcel Post....but that was what? eh, last Monday or Tuesday...a week ago, sheesh
-
It will probably be here tomorrow... They have dragged their feet enough. I'm dying to get crackin' on it!
-
I PM'ed you the tracking # for the hard drive. UPS has it "out for delivery" today. -
Pappy... I got the drive... Modly...I got the keyboard... Stiffnecked... I got the check! (I haven't cashed it yet. I'll do it Friday!) The 1Ghz case halves are still a "no-show"... Maybe they will get here tomorrow!? It is the only hold-up at this point.
I'm still looking for a 13" screen donation... Anyone? Anyone? -
To all of you folks who have (or will) cowboyed up for this young Marines' project; many thanks, and a tip of my hat.
Trust me; any kindness or positive thoughts towards these youngsters heading for a first combat tour is something that they will have with them through the toughest of times. I know, because I was that scared sh--less young Marine in 1967, headed to I Corps, Republic of Viet Nam for my senior trip.
Semper Fi, Pappy -
Toughbook,
Are you still looking for a 13,3 screen?
ebay Objectnummer: 130194600166 -
Denrosten... Thanks for the heads up on that. It is on my watch list!
I am anxiously awaiting the mail delivery. I'm hoping the case halves come today. I really want to get this thing STARTED!
And I'm tipping my hat to! This was a great idea Caddy! Thanks for thinking about it! -
Mail just came... Still no case halves.
-
Sorry fellas I havent been keeping up to date on whats going on but count me in still for what we need to get this thing finished.
Im back logged with work and now I got a Trojan (not the kind you slip on your daddy parts) and its kicking my behind.
Rick I will send you an e-mail as soon as I get rid of this nasty little bugger.
Pappy it is thanks to you and all the rest of the fine men and women that have joined the armed forces that my family and I can sleep at night knowing we are safe and I thank every one of you for that piece of mind.
Jim -
Yippeeee! The 1Ghz case showed up... NOW I can get to work!
I'll keep everyone posted. I'm starting from scratch here so it wil take me a few days.
It came with 256 MB of RAM already in it! THANKS GLEN! I'll go ahead and leave it at that. I still need a 13" screen... I'll look through my pile to see what I can come up with. I'll also kepmy eye on a few ebay auctions. -
I was starting to get *very* worried about that box....
-
I'm impressed! It's actually in pretty good shape! The bottom is a lttle scratched but overall it's great! I've got a temp monitor mounted right now. It has the latest BIOS so I don't need to flash that. I'm starting to work on getting the wifi rigged now.
-
I'm glad (*very*) that it finally made it..
-
I'm loading XP on it now! Linda sent me an XP upgrade but forgot to include Win98. I haven't done an upgrade in years... I've always done fresh installs. I went ahead and threw the disk in to load it. It started to load but then wanted one of the many pre-OS' out there. I threw in an old Win95 disk I had lying around. It only wanted it for verification that I did indeed have a disk. It was in the slot for only 30 seconds and then wanted the XP disk back. However... When it started to load XP... The DVD R/W just kept grinding away at the same spot. Apparently the XP Disk was too badly scratched to work. So... Here's your tip for the day... When you run into that problem, just clean the scratched disk as best you can and make a copy of it. It has always worked for me. There is something about the fact that the laser can read it to copy it but maybe can't for installing the data. For whatever reason... It works. I just loaded the COA that came with the disk that Linda sent and it's loading like a champ!
By the way... I'll be loading a bunch of music on there too. He's definitely going to be a hit with his buddies!
Oh... And I don't know if Linda was aware... She had a 6.6Ah green tabbed battery in her 600. I'll do a refresh on it to make sure it's up to snuff. That should give her son some VERY god battery life! -
Be sure to put the MARINE CORPS HYMN, and a pdf of The Guidebook for Marines in the memory. LOL!
Bought CF-28 for soldier-son & now need advice!
