Well... You need to provide information if you want any... Should I buy a sedan or a 4X4?

    The answer????

It depends on what you want it to do! Is this just a coolness factor thing or will you be subjecting it to harsh environments? Do you need the tablet function of the CF-19 or will you need to use DVDs in the CF-30?

    Nobody can possibly give you any good advice until we know;

    1. What do you do?
    2. Where will you be using this?
    3. Do you have diagnostic equipment to hook up to it?

The list could go on and on....

    See what I mean?

Well, we have had some Gateway tablets which just ended up getting trashed just like everything else except our Lenovo/IBM tablets and laptops.

We primarily do Printer service all over Michigan, I do ALL of the I.T. related functions for our company and anyone else we do business with.

Right now we have a couple of Thinkpad T60s and an X61 Tablet that are doing pretty well. We tried the netbook thing with the ASUS EEEPC 1000H and it ended up dying a graceful death.

Even dabbled with the Nobilis NOBI Atom powered Tablet, that thing belongs in a child's toybox.

We are looking at Toughbooks because "I" am getting tired with replacing HDs from drops and cleaning out keyboards from morons dropping coffee and crap in em. Plus dropping them in parking lots. Plastic doesn't like that too much.

I think the tablet function is more of a novelty for our techs for use with Garmin mobile PC software, some of em are complaining that the screens on the in MIO GPS's that they have are too small.

So with all of that being said, I think we will kick the CF-18's around that we have and pick up a few more CF-29's and then look ahead at the 30's if the need for more muscle is needed.

    You guys are great!

I think you answered your own question ;)

If you have access to both the CF-18 and CF-29 then you will figure out what you need/want most.

My thoughts are that if you need to look at the screen for hours and/or you type alot... Get the CF-30! It has a much brighter screen unless you opt for the newest most expensive CF-19. Then you still have the smaller screen size and keyboard size of the CF-19.

Personally I'd go for the CF-30 with 2GB of RAM and a good 7200rpm SATA hard drive. Since you really don't NEED the tablet function... Go all the way and have the convenience of either an extra battery or a DVD module.

    Just my two cents...

    Rick

We probably will go with CF-30s in the future, we have a few SATA SSDs lying around that need a good home inside a Toughbook.

So until then, it's playtime with the CF-18 (damn keys are too small!!!) and the CF-29.
