So I'm looking at CF-30s around this area and there seems to be a guy locally who buys them up, fixes them up, and sells them. I'm skeptical because they all have these big hard drives, windows 8, and very similar set ups in overall. This is an example of one that I'm looking at, but he has a lot of them that are pretty much the same...so much in fact that he uses the same pictures for most of his ads. PANASONIC CF-30, 2GB RAM, 1TB HARD DRIVE I would be buying them in person because he's right down the road from here, but even after confirming in person that everything is as it's advertised, does anything with this look like something you guys would stay away from? I would imagine that getting my hands on a factory restore disc would be the first thing after buying it, but I'm not sure if one would even work if this thing is very different from the factory hardware setup. Basically, I'm a bit too computer ignorant about this kind of thing and I'm not sure if this would be a bad buy.

It looks like a great buy... I'd trash Windblows 8 though... But, to me... it looks like a scam. At $399 they either needs to be trash or he isn't making any money. With the RAM and the hard drive costing almost as much as a bare bones CF-30... Plus the emissive keyboard.
If you can pick it up and watch it operate before you buy... DO IT!
Then sell the hard drive and buy a 250GB SSD drive and install W7! -
Yeah, I'm not interested in X8 at all, or the huge hard drive. He has a lot of them for sale for prices between 300-500 and all of them seem pretty similar only varying with things like touchscreen and other extras to make it worth a few hundred more in his opinion. I just don't want to spend 400 on a nest full of headaches haha. I'll have a look around for this SSD and see what would be involved with getting it working before committing to buy one of them from him. Thanks!

Essentially, you just need to check all the basic functions: media drive if any, wired/wireless internet, flaws on LCD, all keys on the keyboard working, stuff like that.
Then you make your decision and take it from there.
CF-30 is a fine machine.
Upgrades in the respect of SSD and OS are easy.
Good luck.
