Hey Guys...and Girls. I've got a head scratcher here.
I bought an 18D and it looks to be brand new...the only problem is when I power it up there is a fairly loud electronic hum. Kinda like the sound of a florescent light.
I figure thats why it still looks like new (hell I'm scared to use it). I haven't been motivated enough to take it apart to see where the sound is coming from exactly but it does it with or without a caddy and drive and plugged in or not
It seems to come from around the middle of the machine. Any help would be appreciated .

    Probably the backlight converter
Try to control brightness and see if it decrease or increase

Does it happen only on AC power, or does it do it on battery too?
If it goes away when you unplug the AC adapter, I think you've found your culprit.
