My name is Travis and I am a Toughbook Addict...
I have an 18K thats got me stumped. It wasn't recognizing the audio board that I got it with so I had a friend of mine sent me from a working pull. It still says no device when I try to manually install the drivers. I see a small slot that is on the top of the board besides the one where the cable goes into the main board. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
Thanks for your help in advance. Travis
Oh the OS was installed using the Oem discs too.

What do you mean by the cable? Is it connected to the motherboard by a flat ribbon connector?

    Hi Travis,

The sound board just has the one connection to the main board via a fairly wide ribbon cable, the ribbon cable fits into the slot on the under side of the motherboard so it`s fairly awkward if not impossible to fit properly without removing the motherboard. The top slot is for the gps/gprs module. Check and make sure you have the ribbon cable the right way round also check that the connection traces on the ribbon cable are alright, they are fairly weak on these.

    Hope that helps

    John
