Do you need a complete mobo or are you looking for parts?

EDIT: I just read your other thread... Sorry...I don't have an extra complete mobo... Just complete laptops.

The other thing you might want to specify is whether you intend on using a 12" or 13" screen, as I don't think we've yet figured out how to switch the mobo from one to the other!

What's different on the 12" VS the 13" mobo? They lok the same to me. Or are you talking about the 600 VS the 800?

I can't say for sure about the 1000, but I know this problem exists on the 600 and 800. If you were to take a 600/800 mobo that was originally sold with a 12" display and attach a 13" screen to it (or vise-versa), the display is misaligned. and it isn't a windows problem, as it happens as soon as you turn it on and the POST screen comes up.

I hope you'll tell me that we've found a way to correct that, but last I read we were all still stumped.

Lemme se if we are on the same page... I have taken 12" screens off of a CF-28 and put on 13" screens with no problems at all. I have also done the reverse. But ONLY on the CF-28 800Mhz & 1Ghz models. I know that the 600 models are different. The monitor connections are the same connectors but slightly different locations.

No complete boards? What complete CFs do you have? Or what boards do you have that are missing things? i dont need a batt or HDD or memory or ethernet cards or drives or anything...just need a board w/ cpu that will work once everything else is attatched...ill measure my screen later...im sitting on my couch with my new tv and 2 6-packs so im not getting up at the moment. [the tv doubles as my new monitor :D ]

I've got a 800 with everything but the battery and AC port cover, but I probably want too much for it. It's got the rubber/backlit keyboard, 768MB RAM, XP pro COA, 13" touchscreen, CD drive, and I think it has a 30GB drive.

Though I'd want to get what I've got in it, so $400 shipped.

    Nothing incomplete though.

Edit; Forgot it has a 100mW Atheros 5005 card, but hadn't gotten around to installing any antennas. I'll install a paddle antenna when I get back from Cali.

Im interested except I dont want the HDD or the XP install on it, the screen, or the CD drive or the wifi card...hahah. I could trade you my parts for yours. You keep the HDD, CD drive, and wifi card...

Sadly I've got too many 600 parts :p I gotta re-assemble all my dead parts into the bullet test machine, and I'll still have the lower half of a working 600 as well :D

The only 800 mobo I have is missing a monitor fuse (easy fix) but has a broken keyboard connector. I need all my other 800s for UTBs on ebay. Sorry. :(

Check. TB is correct from my experience. I have had 13.3" touch and non touch screens on an 800 that came with 12.1" touch. On my 1ghz I have had everything on it. No funky visuals with either in any config.

Well I stand corrected. I put a 12" screen on an 800 that came with a 13", and it worked fine. I guess it is only the 600 that has this problem. I attached an (admittedly lousy) pic of what i'm talking about, this is a 12" screen on a 600 mobo that was expecting a 13". notice how the panasonic logo is shifted down and to the right, and the F2/F10 message in the lower right, is cut off. a 13" screen on a 12"-expecting 600 mobo produces a different but equally unacceptable distortion. I think i've got pics of that on the yahoo group.

fendereff- i have some partial 800's, I could ship you a body with the mobo, with or without a (13") screen. No keyboard,PCMCIA cover or hinge cover.

Let me know if you are still looking.

I got outbid on ebay at the last second. If you still have an extra mobo that would be great. Ife like to buy one with the 1GHz CPU but would be just as happy with the 800 if you dont have any of those for sale. All I need is the main board and the little board that attaches to the bottom of the case at the rear...with the 3 groups of wires running to it (for the keyboard and stuff) I have everything else (including the hamster) to make it work. Let know know if you still have em and Ill PM you my info and such. Thanks!

That little board at the bottom (inverter) is only included on units that had the chiclet backlit keyboard, I hope you know that and were not expecting it to be on any unit you buy.

I don't know if this guy is an "authority", but his description seems to confirm my suspicion:

For me anyway, the problem is still unresolved. I've got several 600 mobos that originally came with a 13" screen. I can't get them to look right on a 12".

    Gravitar,

Did you set the jumper and the switch correct?

    gravitar-

Looking at the the toughbook.wikispaces site, and realized a tech manual linked there appears to be different from modly's-

    see http://amd751.ru/files/cf-28techmanual.pdf

it may have something different to help for this.

Found the jumpers, for all who want to know.

They are located about 1/2" from the CN-52 keyboard connector (The beige one), and look round. Next to that is the IC34.
