I initially had done the hack about 6mths ago with a slot load uj 845c and it went well, but i bought a new toughbook and got 5 more of the uj 845c slot load drives. The drive works but the eject button doesnt work, i thought it was bad so i did another hack and that drive doesnt eject either. Only when i use the eject from windows does it work.

Is this hack related or drive related? I find it weird that 2 out of 5 drives the eject button doesnt work. I am going to try the other 3 later though.....

turns out none of the drives have an actual eject button, i contacted the seller and said that was the way they came.

i had a uj845c about 6 mths ago and it had the button. so its weird that none of these 5 do

I guess you have to spend the big money to get the eject button lol
I only have one slot load, an expensive uj-225 bluray writer and it has a button

Drives originally in a Mac don't have an eject button. They are software eject only. I got one and soldered an eject button on from an old cd rom.

Macs don't use DOS. :D I had issues trying to put a boot disk in. That's why I decided to solder a switch on.
