I just bought a CF 29 and the touchpad is not smooth compared to my other laptops. I have tried adjusting the settings but it still seems the same. Sometimes when moving it gets stuck or stops. I enabled pointer precision and have it on the fastest speed but it still moves slow.

There is a few issues with the touchscreen when i click a window sometimes it doesnt grab the right part. The calibration seems fine and when i click the start menu or items in the start menu they all work great, its just certain windows that have issues with. I just upgraded the touchpad/ touchscreen driver but nothing seems to have changed.

BTW it is a refurb/ off lease unit

Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing. We have all been there. If your looking for answers, I would recommend reading the stickies at the top. The touchpad/touchscreen issues on a 29 are covered rather thoroughly there.

    Thank you

    Did you calibration the touchscreen?
The touchpads on the Toughbooks are slower to respond than most models
When you read the Stickys as Doobi recommends you will find a link to an updated touchpad driver that one of the forum members made and uploaded that might help

Hi, Thank you i appreciate the welcome. I checked the 29 faq and the unofficial threads, but did not find anything. I did calibrate the screen several times, and i did not find the updated driver that the member made.

I searched using the terms touchpad and touchscreen

The forum built-in Search is lousy. Try Google and after the search term(s) add "site:notebookreview.com"

Thanks i tried that, it does help but the pad still feels laggy/ rough compared to my netbook. Maybe since its older or rugged that might be why its not silky smooth as my modern pc is.

As far as the touchscreen i dont think there is any gunk behind the screen. It goes to the start menu fine and i can click the address bar and links in pages. But if i try to click the home/ refresh ie; toolbar buttons or the min/ max and close buttons it i have to click lower.

I assume this is because i am using Win XP and not the tablet edition. I am going to try Win 7 as soon as i purchase another gig or ram. I havent used it much, but the keyboard is definitely easier than my netbooks. Also i plan to install a 7200rpm 8mb hdd next. Too bad its pata and not sata :(
