What chipset is in the mk2? What's the max ram the chipset can handle? Not what Panasonic tells us.

    Thanks

    Pentium M 1.3GHz LV (Centrino)
1GB DDR SODIMM more than the base RAM (either 256MB or 512MB, depending on the particular CF-29 Mk2 Model Number)
Why? Don't you trust them?

I meant like an 845 or 915 etc.. I curious about the limit on the particlular Intel chipset.
I know on some of these you can put in much more than the manufacturer tells us. I know later marks are like this. I have 256mb on board. The "official" limit is 768mb. I want to know if a 1gb module will work in it. Giving me 1256mb. Even if it bumps it up to 1gb total, it would be a slight improvement.
Most of the time it requires low density 16 chip modules to work. Anyone try this on a Mk2 CF-29E yet? I don't want to waste my $ trying if someone has a module they could try.

Kingston's memory configurator says you can put a 1GB DDR module into a CF-29E. Your memory total will depend on how much on-board memory you have.

I just bought a CF-29E, but I opted on the cheaper 512MB sodimm as I was buying at CompUSA and that 512mb stick happened to be on sale. I think Panny lists lower amounts of ram expansion on the older marks because that's all that was available back then and they never updated the specs to reflect newer memory once there was availability.

Kingston's website shows the 29E chipset as the 855GM.
