    Video driver is my guess

Might be solved with a fresh load

I agree, re-install the factory video driver and don't upgrade it unless Panasonic puts out an upgrade.

Got a 19 doing the same thing. I get perfect image on external screen. Had similar situations and it turned out to be the LCD panel.

Yup, it either the lcd of the wiring to the lcd. Could just be a loose connector. But i had to replace the lcd on my mates HP when it had the same issue.

    Nonetheless, video drivers first.

Here I was hoping Panasonic US could be of some help. Turns out Panasonic Sweden doesnt have toughbook support and they connected me to a bloke who said "zat ze mozerboard must be replayzed and zat wil cost me xxx euros."

Damn, seems if something goes south we'll have to rely one each other.

Alex, mine was intermittent... not constant.... Once a day it did it and would go away until I rebooted... That's part of the reason I got rid of my CF-30...

    yes its intermittent happens randomly

i suspect it could be the GPU or video ram if there is any causing the issue, since i do BGA repair i will open it up at some point at rework them, but since it happens so randomly sometimes works fine for a mth without doing that it will take a while to know if i repaired it lol

I did have a similar problem on my CF-30 MK1. It was the ram, 1 bad 2GB stick, pulled the ram, all better.

Most likely the ram,lcd or lcd cable. Have yet to find a 18,19,29 or 30 with a bad video chip.

Maybe post how many hours this 30 has thats usualy a good indicator for me as to condition of the back-light, lcd etc.

I have sold a few mk-1's and no issues reported
My personal MK-1 that seems fine has a new mk-2 toughscreen (if that makes a difference),and running the standard xp load

I had an MK1 with an MK2 screen on it... (My MK1 magnesium case somehow got broken  :D)

It still did it... I think the MK2's (the mobo) are better as I've NEVER seen an MK2 do this.

    Thanks
