In BIOS information tab on CF 51's , is the Accumlative operating time only available on Mk3's ?

I think that only the cf-51's that have the core duo cpu are the only ones that give operating time in the bios. The single core cpu's don't give this in the bios. You do know that the core duos can be changed out to a core 2 duo cpu up to a T7600 intel. The biggest bang for the buck is probably the T7200 cpu. check out some of the FAQ's for info, it's not a difficult swap.............Driller

    Hey Driller

The CF-50 CPU fan rarely ran and of course the 28, 29 and 30's are fanless. This CF-51PFDDEM fan runs all the time and is loud as a Pentium 4   Do the core 2's cool ok?

I have a CF-51LCCDDBM BIOS: V2.50L10 It shows the operating hours in the bios of it. The operating hours show on the first page that loads of the bios.

I did the upgrade on my Mk3 and it works just fine. The first thought to check is dust. Is the air path clear? I used a brush on mine whenever I open them and it was loaded! Not only on the edge of the heat sink but the exhaust vent as well. The only other thought is the heat sink connection to the CPU.
On mine, the thermal pad had hardened and I cleaned it and used some generic thermal paste. It works just fine, I play games on it and surf, it's running most of the day and I hardly ever hear the fan running. I'll put my hand over the exhaust vent and it gets warm, never hot. But like they say, 'Your mileage will vary.'

the wattage is either 34 or 35 for the core2duos and I can't say the fans run anymore than the core duos did(same wattage). I really do think they may run a little cooler when I use coretemp app to check the temperatures. The T7200 runs around 50.00 on ebay last time I looked and is one third the price of the T7600 for only 20% more computing power, at least in theory. Sure wish we could have got a little more upgrade potential here, but thanks again to Rusty503 for sending us scrambling down this road to squeeze as much out of the cf-51 mk3's that we did. But there may be more coming, stay tuned.........Driller

You know where I'm going with this, what is the max cpu upgrade for the mk2 model that you're aware of? It being a single core but oddly lists the operating hours in bios(like mk3's ), which I saw only a couple of units on fleabay that were the mk2 models that showed the op hours in picture descriptions. I seem to remember someone a while back that was wondering if the single core models could be upgraded, but they were hinting at it taking a core duo chip. I'm sure the answer is no, but do any of you guys know, Blair, chip in, Rusty..............Driller

I was thinking that too. I tried a 1.66 dual core Intel® Core?2 Duo Processor T5450 (2M Cache, 1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB)with SPEC Code(s)SLA4F in it the day it came in and it wouldn't boot on mine. I have a 2.2 and 2.0 Pentium M on the way from ebay. When they show up I will let you know. I have a 2.0 on hand, if it takes too long i will just have to crack open the voodoo and borrow it.

The BIOS will show anything Panasonic wants it to show. ;) CF-29 Mk4 & 5 are single core Pentium M and show operating hours.
