OK I just got another toughbook but had a few issues.

Before I start I just wanted to say... you guys jinxed me by saying you will end up with another one in the near future!

Gonna try and search a few more posts to find drivers and ebay for recovery disks. I am replacing my CF-29 MK3 keyboard with the emissive one and a few places I googled said this keyboard was universal with the CF-51 MK3 as well. Keys are filled with sticky (I hope and pray is Dr Pepper!) substance and the up key had to be neutered to stop it from interfering with normal operation. Tried search and no luck here, will my OEM chicklet keyboard fit this CF-51 MK3?

Yeah eBay was throwing me off. I guess worse case when I get my emissive keys and do the swap, i'll see if it fits and works. were the 51 keys able to withstand water? Half the keys are stuck.

They never made an emissive that fits a 50 or 51. Been there done that. The 50 and 51 have one cable and the others have 2 or 3 cables. The individual keys will not interchange between the 50 and the 29..

Or if you want to be cheap, you can get a light gray on from a CF 50.

The ones above are less than 10 miles from me. If it falls thru I will get those. So far I'm liking this computer that I had the intent of rehabbing and reselling. :(

The seller make me well aware of this! Beside the ribbon, it was a walk in in the park minus the homeless and pickpockets. I sized the keyboards up they are almost identical but the 51 ribbon was not the same as the 29. Glad I asked that question cause this auction almost screwed me over...

Did you get the driver for it yet? Does it show up in Device Manager? Other than that you need CAC software. If you are military related you can get the software from your service portal. For me I get mine from AKO(Army Knowledge Online). Look for ActivCard.

By any chance did you get this from Buybest (12,13,14 or 15) mk3 ? If I was you I would pick up a recovery DVD. It's the only way to go.

No I didn't and Air Force Portal is giving a continuous loop of how to get it working to include outdated death by PowerPoint. Those recovery disks are detrimental if you don't go in a certain order. I'm so glad the 29 came with em. How do get a hold of this member?

Both 29 and 51 says this on the site Firefox and IE.

    "CAC Error

There was a problem with this browser accessing your CAC for authentication.

You may have pressed the "Cancel" button in your browser's certificate selection prompt.

If you're trying to authenticate with your CAC, please clear your SSL sessions. In Internet Explorer, go to the Tools-> Internet Options. Select the Content tab and press the Clear SSL State button.

If this doesn't work or you're unable to complete this, close all open browser windows and try again."

Using one of those on my 29 now and same set of issues. I have a usb one issued to me...somewhere. I'll just wait till I get to my unit. My inbox is most likely filled with junk and your mailbox is full notifications :)

OK Back. Maybe i'm skipping over it in the teardown and service manual. CF-51QG5EEBM and where the internal wireless card goes. on my 72 and 29 it was standing right there in front of me after the cover/tray was removed but not this. I see the antennas for it but not where it goes.

It's been a while since I had mine apart but I think it's under the keyboard but not sure if you have to take the whole top off or not which is not hard (8 or so screws) Something tells me in the Duo it is a Mini PCI Card and it's under the keyboard/palmrest. When I bought my first 51 I had to replace the whole top and remember seeing the wifi card under it or partly under it. I will be pulling my Duo apart tonight and will let you know for sure.

sent you a pm, may be wrong but looking at the intel 3945abg card(they fit in cf-74) on my MB might fit if I attach it with the screws to the brass offsets, but as is depicted of some pictures on ebay, but have ordered another half size mini card to see how that will work as well............Driller
