Hello,
I'm new to this forum.
I just purchased a third CF 73 but this one came without a harddrive.
I thought I could just take the harddrive out of my other unit and start up the recently purchased one.
This appears not the case,
I will get a blue screen with a very fast message, then it will reboot, over and over again stating that the drive is corrupted or not configured.
Yet when I place it back in the other unit, it works fine.
Any suggestions?
Or should I just purchase a new harddrive and seperate caddy and staart fresh?
Any sources?
Thx,
John M.

Windoze KNOWS...
Windows monitors for changes in hardware every time it boots; a different processor, different memory size, different video chipset - any of these can cause it to go into shutdown with BSOD.
I'd try a fresh install on a different HDD; but I would use my known good HDD caddy - both because it's known good, but also to prevent buying an expensive caddy for a machine that COULD have other issues.

Chocolate sauce would be yummy on that... -
As mnementh reports, too many hardware differences to work properly
Lots of changes between the mk#s on the cf-73
Ebay for a caddy
From about $70 to $90 or Heartland Services
All of the cf-73's use a standard 2.5 " ide hard drive

Fresh instalation on a new/used hard drive. XP & the Toughbook need the proper drivers. There are tons of threads about how to install the OS and then drivers.
