I have a user who wants me to replace his 60GB drive with something larger. I'm thinking a 120GB. What am I setting myself up for?
I know which end of the screwdriver to hold, and I've swapped drives in Dell, Acer, and Compaq notebooks. Is this Y4 going to be much worse?
Can I replace the ATA-100 60GB drive with a ATA-150 120GB drive? is there a write-up on how to replace this drive somewhere on this forum?
Thanks.

The Y4 is physically easy to do. It just takes undoing 3 small phillips screws and unplugging the drive. The bottom has a panel about 5"x3" on the back right that was meant for users to be able to swap without problems.

Thanks, that is just what I needed.

Well, I just got a look at the Y4. You have to dismantle this thing to get the hard drive out. The bottom cover and keyboard, at least, have to be removed. I think he needs a Y5.

According to a UK review web site the Y7 is due out (although I'm not sure when), and it will cost less than the Y5 model that it replaces.

Ah, you're right. I'm thinking the T4 and W4.

But, in other news, the Apricorn Hard Drive Upgrade Kit worked perfectly.
